Best place for windshields
Hi all, I'm new to the forums. I was wondering where is the best place to go for a replacement windshield(Price/quality) on a CRX. The hood came loose on the highway and flew up and smacked the current one. Its still intact, but I think if something hit it while driving it will come right through.
Yep.. in front of junkyards. And, at least in Dallas, alot of times used tire type shops will also do glass replacement. Junkyard/tire shop EF front windshield replacement is usually about $100 here in Dallas. But that's without the OEM style seal/molding and they just use the universal type of seal (not bad looking and you wouldn't notice the difference if you didn't know better).
Although, during my travels over the years, I've noticed there's a ton of places around the U.S. who seemingly don't have used tire type shops (WA, OR, WI, MN come to mind - if they exist in those states, I've never seen them - and I've spent a ton of time in those states).
So maybe there's none near the OP, who knows.
For what it's worth, I had a new windshield/OEM seal installed in my EF a couple of years ago from a national glass replacement type chain (i.e., Safelite type of place) and it was $300 installed. If I didn't have a near-mint EF, I'd just go the used tire shop/junkyard route for ~$100 installed

I'm in southern california, and have NOT seen a USED tire shop. I don't even know if that's legal. I know you can retread truck (18 wheelers) tires but I don't think passenger vehicles in california.
You live in Tustin, of course you've never seen one, take a drive to LA, the small shops are everywhere, and they sell tires that have been used however have tread still left. Even most large name tire places will sell used tires, a lot will sell takeoffs which they can't sell at new prices even though the tires are practically new, but the owner but different wheels and/or tires and replaced their original tires with them.
My sister in law is from Portland and I've been there on extended stays several times. Not only have I never seen a used tire shop there, friends and members of her family seemed puzzled at the mere idea of used tires. All I ever saw there was Les Schwab!
