I have a 4 wire o2 sensor for my h22 and the my civic harness clip has 3 wires. the 4 colors on the o2 is: 2x black, 1x white and 1x grey and coming from the harness plug is: 1x white, 1x brown and 1x black. i can figure the whites together, the grey and brown one together, and 1 black with the other but where does the other black one go?

No civic had a 3 wire O2 sensor, sounds like you have the wrong plug. Depending on just what it is it'll either be a 1, 4 or 5 wire O2 sensor. Info on year and trim level of civic would be really helpful.
