WTF? Why would a honda owners manual have any information about what bearing brand to use when rebuilding the engine? I am pretty sure honda doesn't expect you to rebuild it yourself;and even if it did give information on how to rebuild the engine in the owners manual why would it recommend using anything but oem honda bearings? That makes absolutely no sense. Even the service manual(which only technicians at dealerships can get) doesn't list a brand to use for bearings. It only gives information on what oem honda bearings to use based on the numbers stamped on the bottom of the block. Im just waiting for you to tell someone that fuzzy dice and flame decals from AutoZone give you 10 horsepower.

Race bearings are meant for racing. Not for longevity like OEM products.

do you mean detirmining what size bearings to buy or how to check the clearences after you install them? If it is what size to buy there is a series of either numbers or letters(cant remember) on the bottom of the block after you remove the oil pan. They are stamped in. They correspond to what oem honda bearings to buy. If you mean how to check them after you install them then use plastigauge. It only will give you a rough idea but it is good enough. Best of luck to you.

Honda OEM or regular ACL if you can find them. ACL is really slow to produce bearings and get them out to the public.

this thread has a lot of fail in the making

if you don't know how to build an engine either:

A: hangout with someone who does

or

B: don't build an engine

Perhaps the all-motor forum might yield better results.
