Car Stereo Stays On
I drive a 00 Civic EK hatchback with an OEM stereo, the problem just started coming up when I turn off my car my car radio stays on for some reason. Most of the time it turns off, but this morning when I walked out to pull my car up the drive way my car radio was on and playing. WTF right?! And so I went to go crank my car and my battery is dead, I jumped it, but everything flickers, dash lights and everything and it makes the clicking noise. I know my battery is dead, and I need to go get a new one now but I was wondering what's causing my radio to stay on like that. As of now, I haven't gotten a new battery yet, but it is for sure dead, but my radio light is still on! But when I stick in my key to the point before ignition, everything turns off and that click noise happens. But when I pull out my radio comes back on. I want to know how to fix this in order to not drain my new battery. Thank you!
Probably a bad ignition switch, specifically a short in the ACC part of it.

The #28 fuse the poster was referencing is for the radio, and the #27 is the cigarette lighter (also run off ACC).
But I'm guessing that it's the ignition switch, since inserting the key and turning it, turns off the stereo.

Pull the fuse to see if it turns the stereo off. Pulling the fuse and immediately putting it back in won't do anything to diagnose the problem.
Also, you shouldn't go out and buy a new battery right away. It's probably just drained, because power is being drawn from it constantly. Try recharging it first (and fixing the electrical issue of course).

had a similiar problem in my wifes impreza. had to replace the radio. some sort ofproblem on the inside of the radio got stuck in position. mine would stay on even after i pulled the fuse. i had to pull the battery and once i reconnected the battery(fuse still out) it no longer came on.
put my old pioneer in it and have not had a problem since

i pulled out the fuses, number 27 and 28 or whatever. The radio stayed on, I'm hoping its not my fuse box and rewiring cause that's gonna cost a **** load of money. I pulled out the relay put it back in and problem still remained. So now I just kept the relay out.

My friend had an eg that had the same problem though, but he got a new radio and it went away like the impreza. BUT he never tried the fuse method, if my fuses are out and that happens is that bad?
Hm, I really dont know what that is, I just know i pulled out 27 and 28 fuse, and pulled out the relay so it doesnt drain anymore, my car starts fine now, i replaced the battery cause it really did die. But today when i plugged in my relay again, the radio stayed OFF even when my car was on. I only tried it once though, I was just like wtf? So i just kept it off for the whole day, so maybe its the radio?
