Default aluminum radiator question

just wondering if its necessary to get a aluminum radiator even if my oem radiator works fine. the car is gonna be a daily driven mild b20vtec. im already planning on getting a slim fan mainly because im running the rmf rpe header and im gonna have clearence issues with the stock fan.

stock should be fine

i have seen b20v's daily driven with civic half rads

although i did get the fullsize mishimoto for my 91 DA and i think its a bit overkill but i do daily my car and run a/c all the time even in traffic in 100+ degree days and my guage never even moves past 1/3 of the way (where it always sits)

i think since aluminum rads are getting less expensive alll the time its cheap insurance especially if you have thousands wrapped up in a build

Would a stock 97 gsr rad be enough colling for a DD b20v at a tad over 13 CR on e85.
Dont want to start a new tread just for this.
Thanks

I actually daily a EF B20 and use the neukin radiator/fan/shroud with our slim fan. Its probably the best unit you can get out there, aluminum rad, slimfan mounted to awesome shroud with quick connect pins, and a slim fan from us with oem plug! a first ever! and only $250 i mean come on..

as long as your cooling system is in good shapes with no leaks, thermostat working properly a civic half rad should work just fine, more is always nice especially if you auto x or road race. Iv ran single core eg radiators on a 370whp ls-t and never had a overheating issue.

but to get all this for that price it sounds pretty tempting if it wasnt for the rmf rep header i would even leave the fan stock but the header wont fit with the current rad and fan setup

You should be fine. I've seen a few e85 setups and some people don't even run fans since e85 burns so cool it doesn't get the motor hot like gasoline does.

Thats what i was tinking aswell. Hopefully i wont have to run a slim fan with the big tybe tri-y headers that ima run on the b20v. Keep it simple.

You should be fine. Just stick with the civic sized radiator and stock fan. I don't trust cheap slim fans lol. Had one die on me and my car overheated really bad cause I left it idling for awhile and didn't notice it until my friend asked why my fan wasn't on.

I mite stick with the stock gsr rad and modifie the stock fan some how to sit closer to the radiator or just modifie the radiator to sit further away from the engine somehow. Damn id be pised if i overheated a freshly built engine.
Thanks

I've been running a Del Sol rad (small neck) for a few years now with no problems. Ran it at a couple of track events in July without issue. 225hp/155Tq. I would think that a full width Integra rad would be the same if not better.
