Ok so maybe not, Just wanted to talk a minute about Drag Racing.

I see alot of people that want to build the FASTEST HONDA on the planet. Or in general the Fastest car on the planet. That is not the primary deal with Drag Racing. So what is the Deal then.

Drag Racing in its finest form is running Driver vs Driver. Consistancy wins Races and most drivers I know are more worried about breaking out, then trying to be faster than the next guy.

I race on a Handi Cap race style, not Heads up. In Handi the point is being consistant each run, not the speed of which you get down the track. If I wanted to run Heads up do you honestly think I would be driving a Honda. I think not, I have a 69 Torino Cobra with 600hp, and it was free.

Why the Hell would I waste 25 grand building a 600hp 4 cyl engine, when I could pull one of my Chevelles up and drop in a 383 or larger and buy parts from just about anywhere. If its a Small Block Chevy you can buy parts from any mom and pops store. Try finding a Cam for a 85 Prelude without EFI.

No Matter what car you drive, remember also Drag Racing isnt allways bout winning or going faster than the next guy, those are luxuries. Get to know the people around you, and for god sakes have fun.

I may be running 10s in my Honda but IM HAVING FUN and isnt that what we started doing this for.

Couldnt of put it better myself.....agreed...its all about having fun and keeping it cool with everyone....ps i see too many snobs that try and think they are all badasses cuzz they have no bills and mom bought them there cars and therefore just have more money to spend on their cars.....people like that need to step down from there pedastol and just get along with everyone....

Tonight was My First Ever Drag Race Event Ever, and guess what.
SECOND PLACE FINISH
For a First Race I think I did pretty good.

I want that guy that flamed me for using a 1.8L Prelude with Dual Carbs to KISS MY ***, not only did I have fun but I took Second Place.

I beat in the first round a guy that had prob $5,000 in bolt on parts to his 99 Civic. They didnt seem to work very well.

I used a few new tricks and they took 3 tenths off my time. And yes I lost cuz I broke out in the final round, Dial in was 11.450 and I ran a 11.408


The First thing I did after loosing in the final round was walk over and congratulate the winner for a good run. I could have whipped his *** if I didnt break out lol. He was a great guy and I showed him I was not a sore looser.

U might want to let all these people know yopur racing the 1/8th mile instead of the 1/4, and how many posts have u made in other threads about yer 2nd place finish? enough is enough.....

 

It's all great fun until either brand names or personal preferences are mentioned.

 

Yes I run on the 1/8th, just becouse the track is within 2 miles from my house. However its still fun, and I still enjoy myself.

Man! And here I was thinking that's one hell of a setup to be running 11's in the 1/4 in an old Prelude with carbs....

bracket racing is pretty lame in my opinion
i just dont like seeing 8 second cars running 9s over and over again.

they floor it, ecu shuts off at 330 mark for 1 second then comes back on so they can run consistent times over and over again... boo hoo...


but the best bracket racing car would probably be any underpowered automatic car. NO tire spinning, no driver error.... just pure slow *** consistent racing

it's only about winning or going faster than the guy next to you. yes i have fun drag racing but not when i lose losing sucks...oh and btw bracket racing is gay...lets make it fair and even that's crap.... racing isn't suposed to be fair that's why it's racing...not nascar how boring is that ****.

 

you dont have to put a lot of money into your car if you race heads up... you can find a class that has rules on what you can and cannot do... this works well in bigger cities with lots of cars, not too good in boise for imports though..... so bracket racing it is... but when i go out there i dont care if i break out... i race with a group of about 10 of my good friends, we always line up against each other, just to see who runs faster, we normally set our dial ins about 2 tenths faster than our best time.. and we dont really care, last time i broke out by 4 tenths of a second because the conditions were so good, i could have hit the brakes, but i wanted to have a new fastest time... but whatever you want to do

Plus I like the 8th cuz you really got to nail that 0-60 speed good. Its a trip on the test nights, when some guy in a 600hp Cuda pulls next to ya. Or better yet a mustang 5.0 pulled next to me and the driver was shakin his head lookin at me in my prelude. At the end of the run he was shakin his head again as we crossed at the same time almost. He left after that run, guess he was imbarassed that a ricer kept up with him.

I enjoy myself, and winning Second yes Im going to brag about it. It was the first event I ran with that car. Not to mention I havnt raced in quite some time.

I encourage everyone to go find a strip and get into some event. If the other drivers are worth a damn, then it will be alot of fun. I had a blast racing this past friday. As soon as I parked behind my trailer in the pits, I went over and shook the winners hand. He drove well and kept his cool. His butt will be mine next time lol.

Dude, not to make you feel bad, but I raced a POS chevy Berrata that ran 10.9's all night.
I guess the speed holes helped it.

 

I always have fun at the track and am nice to the people around me, because I just compete against myself. On the streets it is a different story.

 

I am considering using a A20A3 for the car now. 2.0L SOHC FI from the same year car. I like the carbs cuz Im a little old school, but heck I am driving a Honda and not any of the V8 Cars sitting around the back yard. So I guess I am tryin to catch up to the new ideas.

Will the 2.0L headers from the SI work on my 1.8L Dual Carb block
Will the Heads work from any other block work on mine to convert to EFI

Any Help is needed

If your not having fun Why bother. There is more to racing than to win. Not much more but hey there is the friendship and overall joy of the experience.
