Bad Axles?
I just bought a 90 EF Sedan and it's making a weird noise, it sounds like rubber or metal rubbing, and it's making a squeaking/grinding noise. I don't think it's the tranny, the car shifts really smooth and it's not the gears grinding. The entire time your driving it makes the noise, but stops completely when you take your foot off the gas, then when you start accelerating it starts again, it doesn't get worse the more your accelerate or the faster you go. I don't think it's the axles because, the axles would still make noise even when you quit accelerating. I'm lost though and any help would be appreciated.
Anything theoretically should continue making this noise reguardless of foot on or off the gas. Check out your wheel bearings though. Inspect your axle boots and make sure they're not torn/ripped. If they are they need replacement. Also, if you don't know how to properly inspect if your wheel bearings are bad you might be screwed off the get go and need to just take it to a shop.
When you do this grab the top and bottom and try to wiggle, don't wiggle side to side because that could also be bad outer/inner tie rods.
