So i have a JDM B16a motor in my 92 civic 4dr...i went for emissions today(which havnt been tested since 2008 when it failed i just found out) and once again, i failed. The guy at the shop told me it's going to be a hard job to check all the wires and stuff and told me it took him 2 years to get his eg hatch to pass..well i have 30 days til the dmv suspends my registration so thats not 2 years to me. I need to find out the year of my engine and obd1 or obd2. Can anybody help because I really want to keep my car.

How to tell the yeah (note there is no identifier on the block just the head):

 

^^stole the words. For the OBD of it I believe OBD-1 is from 92-95 and OBD II is 96-Newer (I dont believe they've made any others someone please correct me if I'm wrong). But I would think your OBD-1, I dont even see the benifit of goin OBD-2

wow that really helped with the year, its a 1995, and yeah i think im guna get it tune up then get a new o2 sensor and maybee a cat

i agree obd2 is just more problems to deal with...its most likely obd1.
