Default EK coupe vs. ITR shells

I need to replace my old, wrecked ITR shell with another chassis thanks to a big wreck during my last 1 hour race at Mosport. I'll be swapping everything on the ITR to the other shell: powertrain, suspension, etc.

I was wondering if anyone here has had personal experience road racing these two chassis and would care to share their comparative thoughts. I'm eyeing the EK Coupe for its longer wheelbase and lighter chassis however it would be easier to swap all my parts into another ITR, not to mention I'd have more spares at my disposal (door, hood, fender, etc.).

Rear suspension on the EK is different than the ITR. Front control arms are different, too.

Are you sure the EK coupe is lighter than an ITR (or other Integra)?
Just saying, my 2000 EM1 is hardly any lighter than a DC2 GSR (in ST-class autocross trim), and the EM1 doesn't even have ABS. I think once you swap in all the B-series stuff the EK coupe wouldn't really be lighter.

I'd look for an Integra RS shell to swap your stuff into if I were you.

No matter what, the ITR is a better starting chassis, much more rigid at the very minimum.
Sportcar motion finds their ITR to be a better car than the eg.

I thought of that but then once a well designed cage goes in, the rigidity increases which also supports the idea of going for an RS or any other DC shell for that matter. Please keep the comments coming!

That sounds relastic to me, but until as he asked specifially for the EK shells, that is not of importance.

Overall I thought that the EK shell is stiffer than the DC is that a wrong information I have?

I had thoughts of building a track ITR using a GSR shell which I have and have also got an EK coupe.I'm leaning towards the EK coupe for several reasons,
It would be stronger in the body as it is braced by the fact it has a boot and associated panel work unlike the ITR which has a large opening for the hatch.
It is considerably lighter in standard form.
Has a higher roof line as I find the DC2s with a cage and roof cross bars
leave little room over head once you have a helmet on
Has less rake on the windscreen again giving more room for your helmet.
They appear to have bigger wheel arches for wider tyres/ offset.
The boot is big enough to hold a good size wing.
Thats my 2 bobs worth.

i've driven both on track....

only advantage ITR has over the EK coupe is ABS!!!! I would build a racecar out of an ITR just for the reason!

Is the non ABS EK coupe thing only an issue in the states?

In Canada my 97 DX coupe race car has ABS. Having driven both though I would also go with a DC2.

I guess, because my 1999 EM1 has ABS as well.

The DC2 should have better aero as well, which also makes it more favorable. The ITR ABS could in theory be put in either chassis, assuming its legal by the rules.

ABS ? we remove it
Not in any of our rules so its not an issue.
The question was Ek coupe vs ITR shell ,I'm sure if ABS was needed it could be fitted along with all the racy bits.
Didn't Kiwi race a EK coupe as well as DC2s, he would be a good one to answer the question.

Same, I remove ABS in all cars I have built. Along with the brake booster. Gives better feedback to driver and in most cases results in the fluid being boiled less, pads and rotos lasting longer............takes some getting used to though. I'm building an EK hatch right now. Coming from an EG we'll see what the differences are.

I mentioned it only because someone said it was a "selling point" for using a DC2.
