Need help. I'm trying to remove the stock handbrake boot/cover but it seems that it won't go...

I read from other forums that i have to cut it but i don't want to ruin it... is there any way i can remove it?

 

what would you have to do anything underneath your shift boot cover? and you can get it off, its a bitch but giver man, i replaced mine when i put in my el interior
