need some advices about running in the rain @ Portland Int Raceway
I'll be running @ PIR on the 14th
the weather report said 60% chance of shower
http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/97045
does the track hold water badly?
I'm debating if I should bring my V710 down or not
RE01R is my street/rain tires

There are two types of rain tires. The kind that work, and the kind that save your life. The former often have an extremely soft compound and only enough grooves to clear water. The "save your life" type are the ones that are dry performance tires that happen to have enough grooves to adequately clear water from under them but often have too hard of a compound to do any performance good. When it comes down to dry tires in the wet, it's not going to matter much, you're either going to clear water or you're not. I'd go out, be safe, have some fun!
I ran PIR in june in full on rain...a total of 4 cars crashed that day, all of them on the corner just before the back straight.Overall its a nice surface, just remember to hug that inside wall on the back straight and be careful entering/exiting the chicane.(its concrete instead of blacktop, a little slicker.)
Don't hug the wall on the back straight. Anything happens and you'll be too close to the wall to correct and the impact will happen faster then you will know what hit you. For aero and safety, keep at least a car width off the wall or more. Be VERY careful in turn 4 (with chicane, turn 2 without) and Turn 10 (that's the left hander after the back straight). When grass is wet you DO NOT SLOW DOWN. I left the track at 92mph in turn ten... hit the wall doing 91 (metaphorically speaking).
Basically... Don't leave the track. It will be expensive. I've done it a few times. I spent 18k at Portland in one corner, don't do that.

Hate to leave the OP, or readers, afraid of the track. The change coming out of the chicane at 3, concrete to blacktop, is slick when wet, mostly a problem for rear engine, and you can easily hit the wall there with wet grass. Knowing that, it can still be enjoyed at reasonable speed and line even when damp. This time of year it will be damp first run, even if not a rain day. There are many places that you can leave the track without obstacle, and, yes, those walls need to be considered. Still a fun relatively safe track.
I found this recent video that shows all of the places mentioned, well. It is a highly modded BMW, not mine, but has a great camera view, not a tunnel from inside the car. OP has seen this, but for those reading the thread, it is a nice day at the track.

Especially if it's not a race, go out in what you have an learn as much as you can. Rain racing is all about adaption. Each lap can be different, which make it a nice equalizer between cars. I personally absolutely love racing in the rain. The getting ready to race in the rain, no so much.
For tire compound, it's equally important the compound and condition of the tire versus the "groove" design. In many instances it's more important what the tire compound is like versus the tire grooves.
