I have been searching on and off from one forum to another...ive seen plenty of diy for egr port cleaning for the L4 but I can't ever find one done for the V6 97 accord....can't someone point me in the right direction? I'm sure it's been discussed once before but I cant find it anywhere.

Well, I didn't find a write-up for the 97 V6 in a quick search either.

Though I would assume the process is similar to other Accord EGR port cleanings. Just using the diagrams from Majestic Honda should give you a good idea for how to go about it.

Intake Manifold:

Just looking at the EGR port locations as the top of the IM, it looks somewhat similar to the 98-02 V6 method:

Its EASY on this engine. Just remove the top plate on the manifold. It is held on with allen bolts. Under the plate, you will find the EGR passages. A wire brush or an old screwdriver and some carb cleaner does the trick.

 

the process should be the same as with 4 cyl models. just located the fuel rail bolts, and take out that assembly underneath u will see a metal plate resting relaxing, just get that get that guy out with i think 4 nuts that holds it, underneath is the egr ports. good luck!

 

The 1997 Accord should have the extended emission warranty of 14 year/150,000 miles:

You might want to check that out if you have less than 150,000 miles on the odo. Do you have a trouble code?

For the 5th gen Accord V6, remove the plastic intake manifold cover, you should see the EGR cover right away. Then as 92civlude stated, "Just remove the top plate (which is the EGR cover) on the manifold. It is held on with allen bolts. Under the plate, you will find the EGR passages. A wire brush or an old screwdriver and some carb cleaner does the trick."

Easier than 5th gen Accord L4 and the 6th gen Accord V6.

# 5 of image is EGR cover, # 6 is the EGR cover gasket (which you should replace).

 

Pull manifold.
Tap port.
Plug it.


Profit.....



I had an issue to where my antilag (its reallllly nasty) blew out the ****in Hondata gasket I was using (S2PS IM). I plugged that ****er.

 

I know this is an old thread, but was looking into this for my 95 Accord V6 with 208K miles.

Found this video that walks you through the process of removing the plastic cover and the EGR cover

My question is what is the torque pressure on the bolts when you replace the EGR Cover? I can't find that anywhere.

 

EGR chamber cover 8.7 lb.-ft. or 12 N - m
