NPR (nippon) h23 OEM pistons
This weekend I got a hell of a deal on an h23 block that came with a rebuild kit including new pistons. From my research I found the pistons to be from Nippon and I also know that there type-s pistons are hone drop and play with no sleeving.
Atm Im am super indecisive about which road to take (FI or NA) but am doing all the work up to that point in time where i have to make that decision haha.
Plans are to have H23 vtec
Parts
-H23 block, crank, rods
-H22 head (already built and in my car)
SO! Id like to know if the H23 NPR pistons are also hone drop and play w/o sleeving. If so that would make my quest for a modest boosted H23 easily attianable.
The only reason I am considering this route is I already have the pistons. All the other work being done to the block is being done the right way, and I am only planning to hit the 300whp club, so relativly modest build.
If they are not going to work then I will prolly end up going the way I originally planned and get the Type-s pistons for Hmotor and go all N/A beast.

How much you looking to get? and what size piston A or B? I want to do as little machine work as possible to keep the machine shop costs down and i currently have two blocks with BBBB cylinders bore.
Also if nippon rings are bad i can get some OEM from honda not a big deal, I would just like to know if the nippon pistons are drop and play since they do make OEM replacements.

ya thats a good idea, but thats 220 for the nippon pistons plus 203 for the rings from honda. im was thinking about going with nippon, but i changed my mind and will buy oem type s for 210. (plus rings from honda) plus nippon has a floating pin, im not sure but i think the only rods that will fit perfectly are the A4, other than that u have to machine A1's and jdm rods or buy coustom eagle rods.
and does the h23 crank and rods fit the h22 block without modifications?

Yes H22 and H23 block are the exact same minus a few small differences that dont interfer with the build, the only difference is the 97 or 98 blocks and up came with 55mm main journels.
I dont mind if there floating pin or not, I am buying aftermarket rods so they can always be machined to accept what ever type of pin that is installed.
Still not sure if these pistons would be able to be just dropped in after my hone. I mic'd everything out and they are in perfect spec but the material of the piston is what im worried about and wether it will be FRM compatable.
A thought did cross my mind of just putting in replacement sleeves, the cheaper liners that any machine shop can do. I am not going for crazy boost and the chances of needing something crazy like golden eagle sleeves for an N/A application is slim to none.
Now i just need to find out of OEM pistons of any kind will work in sleeved applications, from what i remember reading its not possible but ill have to do some reasearch on that haha.

Before you do anything to the block, you need to decide which way you're gonna go.
If your goal is 300whp, then just go F/I.
It's pretty easy to get 300whp F/I but will cost you an arm and a leg to hit 300whp NA.
You're gonna want to sleeve the block anyways unless you want to go with those frm compatible mahle pistons.

this is where im wana be:
250 with type-s piston/bolt ons/ and a good tuner
ill be running oem type s stock bore, gsr tranny, 6puck clutch, 12 pound FW, intake, 2.5'' pipping exhuaste, hopfully a better header than i have now, s300, and........
250 is kinda high but its possible with more and better bolt ons

I just got off the phone with a darton dealer here in florida and i can get a set of flanged dry sleeves for a very good price, and machine work done for ~500 so I have decided its finally time to go F/I.
Gonna be a long road but im already stoked and all i have are a few blocks laying around haha.
Plus i still have my N/A h22 in my lude right now so ill prolly build that for N/A after i swap in the H23 vtec turbo.
