How often you change your oil?
I've read in an article that most manufactures nowadays recommends for newer cars that you change your oil every 10k miles. (As it is listed in most car manuals, including mines.) But I still have mine changed at 3k. I'm curious to see how many people actually follow the manufacture's advice.
I voted for 3k miles but really I change it about every 5k miles. Mobil1 5w-30 + Hamp filter ftw.
If you really want to know for sure when to change your oil, send a sample of your oil to blackstone-labs.com

mobile 1 needs a qrt right before 3k, royal purple needs damn near 2 qrts around 3k. the amsoil 0w-30 im trying right now needs 0 at 3k and is medium brown. the others above would be near black. so far amsoil > valvoline > mobile 1 = penzoil > royal purple in oil life.
anyway i check every 1k miles, around 3k i may add some, then change around 4 or 5k. i havent beat on my car in a long time though. if i drove my car hard id probably change it sooner.
amsoil is great if you can afford it but if you can afford it, i would much rather use Eneos for my honda, but that **** is expensive!!

I dont even have an RSX, im just going by the quality of the oil i use, anything other then high grade oil (rp, amsoil, redline, edge, etc) i will change every 3k.

)Honestly - the only way to know for sure what works and what doesn't is to GET YOUR OIL TESTED by the link I provided above. They will give you a breakdown of what metals and contaminents are in your oil (depends on several factors as to which materials your oil will contain - read up on it) and this will determine the useful life of your oil.
Don't use intangible things to determine if you need to change your oil (butt dyno, color of oil, leakage, etc). Just get it tested and you'll know for sure one way or the other.
Oil analysis is a quick, nondestructive way to gauge the health of an engine by looking at what's in the oil. People use oil analysis for different reasons: to see if there are any problems developing, to see if their oil is working well in the engine, and to see if they can run longer oil changes. Get started with your analysis by ordering a free test kit.
Are you changing your oil often enough? Too often? Is that synthetic oil really worth it? A decade ago, the commercial multi-weight oils on the market were similar. We didn't see much difference in the various brands, and the only real choice for consumers was the grade. Then synthetics were introduced, as were many types of oil additives. Suddenly the question of what to put into your engine became more complicated.
Oil analysis can identify any problems developing in your engine long before they cause you an expensive headache. Or maybe you'd just like to get a good look at the microscopic wear your engine is producing. Can you run a fill of oil longer than 3000 miles? Are your oil and air filters doing a good job? We can answer these questions and more when you submit a sample of your engine oil for analysis.

since when do you have to change it more often with royal purple? Its already been tested to be good up to 10 and 15k.
i use penzoil, valvoline, eneos occasionally...all fully synthetic of course!
are you all using the recommended weight? 5w20?
i use 10w30 and have to change it anywhere from 3-5k depending on hard i beat on it in-between oil changes

Fixed that for you
The k20a3 motors have a recommended weight of 5w-20, but the a2 motors and k24 motors all use 5w-30. I'd stick with the heavier weight to be safe, seeing as the 02-03 k20a3 motors have cam pitting/galling issues which some believe the lower oil weight contributes to increased friction.
