98 accord transmission or ecm problem?
Hey guys, this is my first time on this forum, but i used to be pretty active on various Honda forums back when i had my old CB7.
I recently purchased a 98 accord that needed a new motor for a nice low price, put a low mileage 2.3 in it and now i'm having another problem with it.
The D4 light was blinking so i looked around and found one of the solenoids plugs was cracked and wasnt connecting so replaced it.
Now i put it in D4, try to go and first gear is fine, when going into second it hesitates and does what almost seems like a manual transmission downshift, how you slow down and it lunges you forward, then it hits second and peels the tires a bit, and then repeats the same thing for third gear.
Also, i hooked it up to a CEL reader and it put out code p1760 which from what i understand is TCM voltage supply interrupted, but i may be wrong on that.
I removed the solenoid i replaced and started it up, put it in D4 and its completely gutless on take off, like its starting in 3rd. I i put it in first, it takes off fine, but its most definitely not in first with how groggy it is, i'd say its in second. then you put it into second and it doesnt shift, then into D3 and it goes into third just fine. put it in D4 and nothing (prob cos the D4 solenoid isnt in at this point ><)
It had an alarm in it with keyless entry and remote start, but it definitely had a short in it because it was going off at random times and would sporadically lock and unlock the doors so i disconnected it. I had read somewhere that having a remote start could mess up the ECM but i've also read about the terrific transmission failures that Honda put in this gen accord.
What im wondering is if it would be a problematic ECM or a toasted transmission. Hopefully the cheaper of the two.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
EDIT: also, looking at the ECM the case appears to have possibly gotten wet at some point. I just dont want to buy a new ECM and it be the tranny or vise versa.
