Icon2 checking tranny fluid

should I leave the car at idle when checking tranny fluid on 97 accord

IF it is an automatic, then yes.

I'm only assuming because you definitely don't want the car on when checking MTF.

no check it with the car off and warmed up to operating temperature on level ground (i realize this is not for an accord but its the same, just check your owners manual to confirm)

If its for an Auto, check it at:

-normal operating temperature
-level surface ground
-in the recommended gear depending on the manufacturer; "Park" I assume for Hondas.

From what I understand, you can have it on or off, but it definitely helps to have it at operating temperature AND on level ground.

So do what you want as far as that goes.

check your car's owner manual. Mine(97 auto) says turn off car, check within 1 minute.
