Roll-Cage?
The WRC is gaining popularity with the blingers due to the mAd dRiFtInG y0! WRC cars have many points so that MUST be the key to drifting . . .
To answer the original question (so I am not accused of being a dick):
If you are running a professional series then money is not important since you can afford whatever it costs. If you are running in an amateur series the price is not really important because no one allows a 10-12 point cage in the more "budget-minded" classes. 8 points is the max partner.

stlboarder,
In most production based road racing in NA the limit is usually 8 pts. If your pts. are actually plates welded to the tub (which they should be) then you can have multiple tubes attached at one plate and it counts as one point. You should let people know the area where you live as that will help with a ballpark price for your cage. This is because depending on how popular racing in your area is you maybe able to get a competitive price if their is more than one fabricator.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, some of the boardmembers think that they can reply with any ******* comment and that it doesn't matter, when in fact it does.

Thank-you for answering the question. I just thought of another question I have thinking about. How do u paint the cage? I mean... do u strip the whole interior and paint it, or what?
its a hard question to answer. theres no set price, especially for a custom welded cage. if you werent a newbie, youd know this quite frankly. a decent custom cage of 6 to 8 pts is gonna cost at least a couple hundred in steel alone, more like $1000 for nice DOM and depending on what weight your car is, which you didnt specify, because it matters how thick tubing you need. so if you arent paying by beers, then expect to pay at least $1500-4000 on top of that just for a 6-8 pt cage professionally done, which all us "Road racing/autocross" (not even autocross) ppl here have to deal with. now for extra 10-12 pt rally cage, go to specialstage.com for expert rally advice, they have different needs. just what exactly are YOUR needs? then maybe we can REALLY answer your "question".
this question alone tells me everything about you. how exactly were you planning on welding a 10-12 pt cage without stripping the interior anyway?

Tyson brings up a good point. All new cages in SCCA must be DOM starting in 2003 so if you have a cage made with ERW and you do not have a logbook yet you will be out of luck. In Vancouver Canada an 8pt cage is can$1500-2500.

The reason why I didn't give any price is because I don't know what a 10-12 point costs. I can tell you how much for a Grand-Am/Motorola cup 8-point though. Why? Because most all the cages I have seen built, and all the cages I have priced are 8 point since that is what *most* classes will allow.
The problem is not enough info. A 10-12 point cage is not descriptive enough. What is it going in? What is the intended purpose? What class? etc. etc. etc.
Accurate and concise answers require accurate and concise questions . . .

If this comment was directed at me then might I direct you to my post where I gave him the exact info as you regarding the number of points.

I am in the process of a 12pt custom cage... it is a touch under $3,000 in Grand Rapids Michigan
3000 HOLY COWW.....i'll stick with my 6 point!!!! for 3000 i'd customize it myself!!!
alright... thanks for answering the question and I'm sorry that I didn't give u guys enough information.
By the way, just because I'm not a newbie doesn't mean I know everything. Do you know everything there is to know about cars? Maybe I have never had to deal with roll-cages before? Ever thing of it from the other person's perspective?
And Tyson... since u can tell everything about me... enlighten me. What do u know about me?

As far as painting, when I painted the 8pt bolt in cage in my old scirocco ITB car, we went to lowes, and bought a roll of masking paper, 8 cans of primer and cheap white spray paint. We did the entire interior.. It took us 2 days, and we had to do the tubes facing the windows with a brush.. It looked nice though

As noted, anywhere from $1500-$10,000 depending on design, location, etc.
A few points to consider:
1. Most fabricators are NOT engineers by trade. Those that are engineers will charge WAY more.
2. Chromo costs more. But the benefits are limited.
3. Car weight is important - most sanctions base tube size on car weight.
4. Type of racing is important - SCCA SSx, ITx, and Tx allow 6 or 8 (where 7 and 8 are from the front hoop to the firewall only). SCCA xP, GTx allow more. SCCA Rally allows even more than that.
5. Circle track guys cost less, but you might have to give them the GCR.
What was the question again?

oh and stlboarder, nothin' wrong with bein' a n00b,
A foolish man knows not what he knows,
and a wise man knows what he knows not.
(BTW, applies ta' gals to!)
also dont forget that when you go to 12 point say bye bye to your intact dash, because you have to go through dash the connect to front strut towers
Hell you do that too with 8 point (depending on regulations for what kinda of racing you are going to doing)
You need to tell us what kinda racing you are doing for people to help you
