Default Mechanized Paint Removal - Power Washer, Media Blaster, Etc (Questions)

I now have a car with a meagerly done Rustoleum paint job, and some rattle can touch ups. Blah! Black was the color, so it held up poorly on top of that.

Options?

Rustoleum 'White' it (with black trim), as having the strongest pigment, White might turn out ok?

or... can I use a power washer, power sander, media blaster, or some other kind of way where I could strip the car with some decent speed? What is the best way besides hand sanding, and tears...

soda blasting or mechanically with a DA sander.

Philadelphia is where I tell people I'm located because when you try to explain to people that you're 40 miles NW of Philly, up Rt. 76W to 422W to 100N in a little town called Bechtelsville people usually just stare blankly. That's why there's a map on our website. lol. You've got a PM back.

What about a power washer? I've seen it strip paint before (off of a car... by accident). Thoughts?

No, there's no way that you could strip paint with a power washer. you could damage the paint and dent the surface with enough pressure but there's no way to completely strip a car's paint with water pressure.

no, that's a polisher. you need a DA (dual action) sander. a painter's DA is meant for higher grits and prepping cars for paint so it's less aggressive and easier to work with. a body guy's DA is usually larger and runs much more aggressively in order to remove material. it's a better investment to buy a painter's style DA because you can't always get a finer result from a body DA, but you can always put extremely rough DA paper on the painter's DA and remove lots of material that way. the painter's style is more versatile.

here's a SnapOn DA sander that I use for all paint prepping

i also use this Hutchins for rougher work and removing material.

so your going to strip the car and re-rustoleum it? wierd. anyways a DA and some elbow grease is your best bet.

As for painting it white rustoleum, I did it to my car and thought it was the ****. That was untill I pulled up to a car identical to mine with a OEM frost white paintjob and it mine looked like complete *****. Plus the paint was able to be scratched off with my fingernail. (Yes I did everything correctly)

Its your car so do what you will, just my .02 cents.

ej. I am either going to re-rusto it white which may work okay, or take it all down and get a quick single stage or some low level automotive paint... in reality, paint is last, the car was beat on by a thief and has all sorts of dents that I need to work out first.
