Default Advice on Street B16a.

Hey i have a concern regarding a setup i`m currently building, the setup is as follow:

B16a (head and block).
PCT 81.25mm Pistons.
Toda B`s Cams ( or CTR cams).
S21 Tranny.
Super Tech Springs and Retainers.
Stock P30 ECU.

it is a Street setup, but i`m really concerned with the compression of the engine, when the build is made, i really dont have and idea of how much will compression rise ( i would love some links on compression calculations etc...), is there any concern with this setup. ideas!! ?.

Thanks in advance.

you will be right around 12:1 on the compression ratio. just make sure you get the setup tuned by someone who knows what they are doing and it can run off supreme at the gas station just fine.

You'll be about 11.6:1 compression assuming your head or block hasn't had much taken off of them before, you're using a 3 layer stock headgasket and your combustion chambers are roughly stock size and not larger.

You can use regular pump gas but you're going to need more than a stock P30 Ecu to run that engine properly. You need a tunable ecu and someone that knows how to tune it. Toda B's will be fine

I see.. so i will be safe with that set up on normal gas, i looking forward to make 14.3 - 14.2 with that set up on street radials, dont know if i can go lower than that... would it do any good to add a bigger throttle body, and bigger injectors ?.

Thanks in advance.

A bigger throttlebody might make a couple extra Hp and larger injectors won't help make any more power unless the stock ones are maxed out which I doubt they will be. Your tuning system and tuning on a dyno will tell you if you need larger ones. Supreme pump gas will be fine.

didnt someone test the new spray pattern injectors( mist instead of stream) to give a bit better power as well as gas mileage because of better fuel atomizing.

like the RDX injectors they re only 410 cc

Looks a like a good recipe so far. I'd add a toda/toda replica/jg header and 2.5 exhaust to that list.

The car on Which i`m mounting it, is an Eg6, i have a 4-1 Header and a 2/5 exhaust, i`m planning on getting a p28 chipping it and proceed with tuning. My final Goals with the B16a N/A is getting 13.8 - 13.7 on Semi Slicks.

But as a future goal i`m planning boosting the b16a. But i want to learn as much as i can, right know, without breaking the engine!!.

as it has been stated just make sure to get it tuned correctly and you should be able to run supreme gas not regular but supreme like the 91-93 depending on location. But once you start tuning your tuner will let you know, or buying cheap gas and pinging will let you know, either way, either way.

you won't be turboing it later if your gonna waste all this money for all motor. or you shoulda built in a different direction...

but get a tuneable ecu, chrome, neptune, hondata. and you'll be fine on premium(sumpreme).

It is really a good point, i`m investing this money on a all motor setup and i will spend a lot of time with it, so turbo is not on my way right now.

Yes but the power gains are still small and can vary by application so they should not be purchased on the assumption that they will make more power but rather on the fact that they can support it.
