small idle problem and sticking gas pedal?
i searched around and couldnt find exactly my situation i have an obd1 da with stock motor and im having a problem with my idle and sticking gass pedal/throttle plate. yesterday i got a new tb gasket so that i could try and take the tb apart and clean it out. once the car warms up the idle will fluctuate between 500-700 rms and when i get into the car when its cold i have to tap on the gas pedal to kinda break it loose. if i rest my foot on the pedal it does not move but once it breaks loose it will move freely. once in a while while driving it (operating temp) the pedal will do this, get stuck closed until i hit it with some force.
after getting the throttle cable springs apart and the throttle plate out to clean everything real good i used 600 grit sandpaper to get all the carbon buildup off of the throttle plate and sanded all the carbon off the inside of the tb. i sprayed silicone spray on all the moving parts and wiped it all down as to not get the silicone spray inside of the motor. i put it all back together and it seemed to help. but after driving it for about 15 min, i felt it get stuck again and now the idle is around 8-900 rpms.
when i had the tb off i tried to open it and it felt like it was sticking really bad. i guess it easier with your foot cause of the leverage. it was doing this even after i sanded everything down. i dont know if its my tps or if others have had this problem but my tps is rivited onto the tb. what would be the procedure to taking this off or loosening it to adjust it if the v's are not where they need to be. ive been reading around and im gonna test it tomorrow. i also wanted to try and adjust it to keep the throttle plate from going 100% closed if possible. i dont want to tighten the cable any more cause i dont want the rpms to go any higher at OT. any help would be appretiated.

As for the sticking throttle plate, hit it with 1000 grit sand paper, and then the area where it actually touches the inside of the throttle body. MAKE SURE ITS 100% clean!!! The reason it is sticking is because of deposits, so really clean it up. Also clean the perimeter of the throttle plate. Hit that with 1000 grit sand paper as well until its shiny again. I just finished doing this and it worked like a dream. Also, when youre done, hit it with some intake manifold cleaner. It has a decent lubricant after it dries that reduces stick. That is your problem. The TPS is probably not messing with your idle, mine's a 93 and it still reads stock voltage. Clean your IACV with some electrical kleen, and then take off your FITV and clean that as well. There's tons of write ups out there on it. Good luck man!!!
oh... also make sure that "Pot" that stops your throttle plate from slamming shut is working as well. If the valve that separates the vacuum line is screwed, its not doing its job. So definitely make sure that its working properly. And make sure that when you take it all apart again, open and close the throttle plate like 20 times to make sure it's not going to stick, I didn't do that the first time that i did it and didn't do a good enough job, problem came back!

More than likely the sticking pedal is caused by the "dashpot" its got a vacuum line (the one on the pass side on top the IM, it goes like this... "DP, PCV, FPR", if you don't have a dashpot, that is also why its sticking. Had the same problem on my 89...
on your gas pedal being stuck, i once had that problem, did everything and couldnt find a solution, but then i realized it was the spring on the TB that pulls the butterfly. check that out, get a new 1 and swap it
