Default JDM ECU's Limited to 120 MPH???

Is it true that they are limited to 120mph? Just wondering if the JDM TYPE-R "ECU" is limited to 120mph?

I think it's actually 112mph. But yes, they are all speed limited, unless it's aftermarket like Mugen, JUN, or Spoon.

I have taken my CTR ecu up to 190kmh and no rpoblem. Ill try faster. I remember when my speedo was be wacko...it was going up higher and it went to also the starting point and the car cut off. I would say i think it is more near 130 MPH...maybe higher. Ill try and see.

I know my JDM PR3 limited speed at 112 mph, most definitely. Really sucked at a track where I could have hit 140 easy.

get your ecu rechipped. eliminates speed limiter (good), rev limiter (becareful), vtec x-over, optimal fual/timing maps, etc.

That's why it blows my mind when I see ECU auctions on eBay and someone actually pays a premium for a JDM ECU. They probably figure it's JDM so it's got to be good! lol

I had an e-mail exchange with a seller of these non-chpped JDM P72s and he acted like the JDM units were all that and a bag of chips. "I sell them for a MINIMUM of $275!"

I said, more power to ya if you can find some suckers.
