Previous owner of my car , decided it would be cool to put window tint over the headlights to give them the "smoked/blacked out " look . I bought another se tof headlights while trying to figure out a way to get this crap off the lights.

Anybody have any ideas ? Ive tried :

Simple Green
Gasoline
rubbing compound
and tried pealing it off .

 

use a heat gun and a razor blade. should come right off.

 

I'd try some adhesive remover before anything else. It's available at most parts stores, body & paint supply stores and probably hardware stores.

couldn't adhesive remover damage the paint if he accidentally got some on it? i know there's some that won't but what would be a good brand to use?

 

Sorry for not replying for a few days. Adhesive remover is designed to get stickers off of paint without harming the paint. That's the main difference between adhesive remover and common solvents. 3M and Duck make some good products. Most parts stores will have it in the paint section. We use it very regularly in the shop to get stickers off of anything.

 

i had this problem too with my galant and had to throw them back in the oven at 450 degrees for about 15 sec one at a time of course and then peeled it off with a razor blade and some sort of adhesive. then used wet sand paper to remove the remaining pieces because it did not all come off in one try and then used a buffer to bring it back to shape.
