Default stuck cv spline on si trans

just bought a d16 trans for my 91 si. they cut the boots off the cv axles and left the splined hub inserted. well i got one side off but the other is stuck like a ****. will not pop out at all. ive used a prybar and a steel wedge to slide in there and pop it off. anyway to get at this thing from the other side?

in the tranny????? wow, i would say to use heat but not in this case, if you can get a 3 sided jaw puller on anywhere that would be my only guess... maybe a pulley puller as well?????

pics would help

put a piece of 2x4 on the end of the boot and whack it with a mallet, then slide a flathead screwdriver or balljoint seperator in between the boot and tranny. And either use brute force to pop it out or hammer them towards the tranny to get the axle boot out.

i have 2 words "rent" "slidehammer"

u can rent one at autozone and they come with any kind of "pulling" device immaginable

use the 3 prong "pully" puller and give a few good yanks it should pop out with out any damage.

well considering the trans isnt installed in a car its kinda hard to yank on this axle hub enough without the whole trans moving...ive used a pickle fork balljoint separator and it didnt work. been beating the crap out of it. wont budge

it will work regardless. trans installed or not

your not putting even force on it like in the case of a pry bar

it works like a hammer in reverse

http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool...56-p-3906.html

thats what one looks like

just like if u where to hit it with a hammer from the opposite side..

i know what a slide hammer is, i have one. hub spline still stuck...its not moving. gave me an idea tho. i welded a bar across the top of the hub and attached my slide hammer in the middle, yanked on it and nothin. just flopped the trans around

Pour a can of coke down the spline, it will eat away any of the rust that might be making this a pain, and or soak overnight w/ pb blaster only in the spline area. Find away to brace the trans against something and revert back to the pry bar. Each time your pry, rotate the axle and continue. It'll come out sooner or later. I hope that works. Yes you will get tired, yes it will still be frustrating.

Sounds like the c-clip and axle might be jammed in there good.
