ok, my GSR is bogging and lagging....from reading around it can multiple things, so I plan on getting new distrib., spark plugs/wires, 02 sensor, etc....to correct the problem. I basically need a tune up anyways.

I know NGK is a good brand, but more expensive...from your experiences, what other brands are legit and would you recommend??? Bosch, Denso, ACdelco, OEM, Autozone stuff, etc...

cap and rotor a decent parts store one is fine

wires, get ngk, they are $50 shipped on ebay

o2, get denso or ngk, primaries are around $50

brands, denso, ngk, bosch, ac delco, all decent with a leaning on denso and ngk, they just work on these cars. ac delco is the parts branch of general motors so they make all sorts stuff as well, surprising how much of it is for imports. i do my best to avoid vatozone unless i'm buying purple power degreaser or a brand name product

 

if its a daily, go for the warranty stuff. ^^^ idrivesideways why avoid autozone out of curisoty?

 

most of their parts are junk and wind up being replaced frequently. i don't mind buying brake rotors and what not there since it's a disposable item. the o2 for example. a brand name ngk sensor is 45-50 bucks, i wouldn't be surprised if their in house brand was around the same. i can't even count how many alternators i burned up on my corvette from that place. the only nice thing is it was easier to change than my b18c and they offered free replacements. i'll get a few things at vatozone, just try to avoid anything with a "last" in the name

 

I don't know about Bosch on Honda's. For some reason I have bad luck with it. Denso/NGK all day. I even got a new alternator from Denso (sparkplugs.com) because the dealer said it was no longer available (which it is if I got it form the OEM manufacturer anyways..)

I avoid CSK/O'Reily and AutoZone. I've blown through countless Autolite crap, cheap axles (new and reman) finally just went with axles from Colorado Driveline (people who make/rebuild almost all acura dealers axles out here) but I work at a shop so its even cheaper for me to get the good stuff than it would be to go buy generic crap... so its win win in my situation. Find a mechanic, befriend him, get them to buy your parts

 

alternators and parts like that i would stick with ordering a quality brand online from rockauto.com, you can order denso alternators from them directly.

duralast isnt a bad brand at all for most stuff, and the duralast gold batterys are just about as good as it gets for a standard battery, next to optima which are gel cell.

advance auto parts house brand are JUNKKKKKK, i mean that in the most extreme way possible, worldcraft, autocraft, even the other parts they sell, beck arnley, among others, absolute crap. My beck arnley dust boots for my brake caliper slide pins lasted litterally, 4 days. Back when i had my neon, went through 4 worldcraft alternators before i got one to work. and autocraft parts, you will be lucky if they last 6 months.

 

dont even get me started on wearever brake rotors and pads lol, we used to use those on our crap cars, warped rotors and bad pads every 10k miles.
