Default Honda F20B in 99 Honda Civic SI

Does anyone know if a Honda F20B will fit into a 99 Honda Civic SI

The engine is a VTEC and comes with a transmission with a LSD

How big a job would this be

It's a F20b DOHC VTEC, I think they call it the Blue Top because of the Blue cam cover. It's a JDM engine. This is all assuming it hasn't sold.

I live in Sun Valley Idaho, would anyone know the nearest place that would have a good Honda tuner? One that could that job anyone.

Thanks for you help

Bill

By nearest place I mean, Boise or Pocatello, obviously,(But I doubt they will) or Salt Lake City, Reno, Portland, etc.

KushedOutEm1 I race the SI in SCCA Club Racing in Showroom Stock C. The car is being timed out of that class soon. So I want to get the car to 200-220 hp so I can run it in the SCCA class STU which is a Super Touring class. At 2 liters I can weigh 2200 lbs with somewhere around 200 hp, and quite a bit more torque.

How much hp could I get out of converting to a b20v. I'm not all that familiar with all the different Honda engines. Also how do you convert to a b20v.

canadqek

No I did not know that. I'm just looking for something over 200 real hp and a bit more torque. As I said I am not all that familiar with all the Honda Engines. Also, I live in the middle of nowhere when it comes to Honda tuning.

The SI is pretty much stock. I have taken the AC and Radio out, and have a CATback straight pipe, and Momo seat and Sparco steering wheel. That is all the SCCA will let me do in SSC. The car in SSC has to weigh 2730 lbs with me in it.

In STU, the engine is pretty much free as long as with 2000 cc engines it weighs no more that 2200 pounds, also with me in it.

Thanks everyone for the answers,

Bill

If you have money and the availability to find it, the perfect swap for you, to make 200+hp easy, is a K series swap. They react extremely well to bolt ons as well, which is why it's easy to make 200+ with it.

Do you know what ecu you would use for the f20b? More people have put h22 in, which is basically the same as the f20b. That might be a better route being that there will be more info on all the things you need for the swap.

I totally agree with you. But the OP stated there is a 2000cc limit. If thats the case the F20b is perfect. Its cheaper than a B18c5. And it revs to 8200 all day long. But between the F20b and an H22, the H22 walks the bluetop. Way more torque.

^No, he said the 2000cc has to weigh a certain amount, not that he's walled at it. I could be reading it wrong though. If it's true though... OP I say go K20.

Around $3,000 for an engine ready to drop in.

2000cc-2200lbs
2200cc-2420 lbs
2400cc-2640lbs

It has a full interior, so the first 200 or so lbs out would be easy.

No way. Drop in ctr pistions and cams. High tech header and edelbrock manifold with good valve springs and rev till your face falls off ...with a good tune. Don't cut it up with shifter box

^You didn't read the rules of his race series.

And regardless, I don't like what you just said regardless.

What does a K swap cost? Although its a good idea, I would veture to say the swap would be double of his $3000 budget. A F20b may be his only choice.

^I doubt it would be $6000, I'm pretty sure he could pull it off with $3000.

Also, I was right. He's not walled at a 2000cc, just the weights of each engine. He could do a K24 if he wanted.

Hes walled on $3000. And Bill did say he wants to keep it at 2000cc
Itll be tough to do the F20b swap for $3000
What are A2s going for these days? $4000
plus axles, $300
plus mount kit, $500
plus K-pro. $900
And those are just the basic swap items.

Looks mm mm tasty. Haven't seen one of those before. If you do a good amount of searching, a K-swap is feasible for close to that price range. Plus you get 6spd...mmmmm mmmm nom nom nom
