Broken valve cover bolt - How fix?

Default Broken valve cover bolt - How fix?

whats up people so i removed my valve cover to paint it and when i was putting it back on one of the screws broke wile i was tightning it, will something go wrong without it ? and how can i fix it

You need to remove the remnant of the broken bolt and install a new one.

You can but monitor for oil loss often and replenish when needed.

Is the broken bolt protruding above or recessed below the surface of the head? Post pictures.

i dont have a camera but its flush to the block

So the broken bolt is flush with the head when the valve cover is off?

If the broken bolt is slightly above the head, then you may be able to score a groove in the top with a Dremel tool and remove the remnant bolt with a screw driver.

Otherwise, drill a small hole down the center of the bolt and remove it with a reverse-threaded screw/bolt extractor.

^I use the dremel method often, pretty easy. But if it's flush, you may not want to put a dremel line in the head of that bolt hole.

just use a small screwdriver... i broke like 3 of them on my d16z6 and got them all out. then i replaced them with brand new ones.
