The acoustic feedback stereo has another piece installed under the rear deck lid of that prelude. I don't remember if it is an amp, or a crossover network or what, but I know u will need that piece to go with your prelude stereo. If nobody else posts what it is b4 I can research it, I'll post for sure what it is 2mrw.

The AFBS system is nothing without the full wiring harness, prelude rear speakers, and AFBS amplifier. Otherwise, it's just a normal deck. You need nothing else to install this deck, provided it is the 99+ radio. The 97-98 deck has the 97 and lower plug, and also his a more yellow color -- and will not match the red/orange color of the EM1. The 99+ will plug 'n' play, and will match perfectly.

The system work with an amplifier that also has a separate two-channel input that monitors microphones mounted on the rear speakers. It checks for distortion and automatically lowers gain to reduce feedback noise and distortion. It's pretty remedial, as far as an audio system goes.

TL;DR -- It'll work in your EM1 as long as it's the 99+ deck.

Nice! I stand corrected. I knew one of u crazy Honda guys would would have all the info on this! All that I know is that when I put an aftermarket deck into these preludes, I have to bypass that acoustic feedback system to get it to work properly... Thx for that info!

Indeed. The deck has nothing to do with it, it's all about the AFBS amplifier.

The 97-98 deck is actually just an orange version of the green Honda TL deck that was released in 96 as the first Honda stand-alone CD player (also released in Canada in the 97 Acura 1.6 EL). Give it some orange lights and an AFBS badge ... and boom - prelude deck.
