I am working on a trade (my 91 turbo d16 hatch) for an 01 civic 5 speed.

my question is that the 01 civics previous owner removed the ac compressor and I need to know what year make and model ac compressors will fit this motor. it is a stock 1.7 liter not sure on vtec or not.

 

If the car has a sunroof, it's an EX and has the VTEC D17A2.

If it has no sunroof, it's an LX or DX and it comes with the non-VTEC D17A1

Are you sure that's all the car is missing as far as A/C components? Anyhow, I recommend finding a used compressor from an 01-05 Civic. New ones are rather pricey.

 

ok so its a d17a1. are the 01-05 the only years that fit. not sure yet on the other ac components as i dont have the car in my posession yet

 

Due to the fact that I don't mix-and-match parts, I wouldn't know if other years would work or not. A quick call to the dealership or an auto parts store would likely answer your question.


Ah, I see. I suggest buying a Helms service manual (the big green one) so you have some reference material to work with. That way you're not guessing whether or not it's all there.
