Default What was your first stereo?

Reading some of these posts got me thinkin.. man, I remember my first stereo, I thought it was bad a**! After over a decade in the business though, I realize, man, that was a fu**ed up set up...

I had two Pyle tens in a bandpass box, run off the rear deck speaker outputs. I took speakers from my shelf system in my bedroom and set them on top of my rear deck lid. Dude, I thought my sh## was bangin!

Any other "Do it yourselfers" do any dumb sh** like this? C'mon.. be honest...

EDIT: So, I eventually got an amp from a buddy for those pyle 10's, an old school punch 45HD, with no LPF. Well, at the age of 15, I spent two days trying to hook this b***h up. I had bought an amp kit from bestbuy, figured out how to remove my Ford Escort factory radio with a set of jeweler's precision screw drivers and a butter knife, just to find out there was nothing to plug those damned RCA cables into, LOL! I eventually cut one end of the RCA's off, wired + and - on each channel to the rear deck speaker outs, had no idea what the ground was for... needless to say, I never got it to work, so, my mom felt bad and took me to Hi Fi Buys (tweeter)... $1500 later, I had an alpine v12 mono amp, and a Boston Acoustics 12" sub in a bandpass box, and a new headunit, Thx mom! That's what started my obsession that I currently have...

my first set up was in a 94 corolla.. awia hu and a 8" kenwood DB sub (i think) and a random amp that my friend had. needless say we ran it with no fuse to the amp and hid it under my seat... because we didn't have enough power wire.. blew the sub and the solder inside of the amp was bubbled.. lol i learned my lesson.. but it was a free system.. i didn't care.

Does the rear speaker and reverb system on my dads AM radio count?

My first "system" was a Muntz 12 track, [played both 4 and 8 track tapes] along with 5.25" speakers in the front and 6x9s in the read, in my 68 Chevelle, a massive 2x7W RMS into 4 ohms, [a very big powerfull system in it's day] LOL.

I later modified and added a Precision Electronics "3 channel", [3 mono block amps in one case] PA amp, salvage from a church to drive the rear 6x9s and a pair of 8" Warfdale speakers, [also salvaged from the church], used coils for the low-pass.

That was at Muntz car audio in Winterpeg Manitoba, the first car audio place I worked at, so many years ago now. 94

I bet that was the **** in HS, never heard of nitro, but boston makes some pretty sweet stuff, love the pro series comps... I HATE CHEAP AMP KITS!!! I went through years of ppl looking for Audiobahn stuff man, unless you had their high end competition stuff, you didn't have anything. I put 200 watts on an audiobahn 12, actually saw a spark come out of the center cap before I had the wonderful scent of fried voice coil wafting through my bay, lol!

i had a sony something with aux plug in in the front(manufactured in 2006 it said on the back) to ramdom pioneer and kenwood speakers on my old 95 civic coupe. somehow i figuered out how to set up the stereo EQ to make it sound nice and having a somewhat big trunk helped with the bass, haha good times...

and as long as im here i want to ask something. i have a 97 civic now and want to get a radio delete plate and put the stereo i have now where the stock tape player normally goes, is that possible, will it fit? my stereo fits in the stock radio lacation so i think it should fit down there(by the cupholder)

'82 corolla that dude b4 me built a sub box behind the rear seat. I threw some 'MTX' subs (quoted cuz there was NO label on them, but traded my '79 RM80 for them anyway - young & dumb!) powered by a Jensen 100x2 amp, speakers that were in the doors when I bought it, and a Sony tape deck cuz I couldn't afford cd's yet. Ex g.f. said she could hear me 2 blocks away, prob cuz the car was vibrating all the rust off itself!

my first system??

94 ford aerostar awd(dads car)
used alpine mp3 cd player. - homie hook up
phoenix gold octain r 5.25" dash speakers - homie hook up
Pioneer 300 watt max 6x9's in the sides (tweeters instantly blew out and mids sounded like total garbage) - ebay garbage
infinity referance 3.5" speakers in the lift gate - best buy clearance sale
10" audiobahn dub sub in a massive ported box - bought from the same homie as the speakers and deck
600watt mono block bazooka amp - bought from some emo chick that was parting out her system that her "b/f" put in her car, think that she was trying to screw him over... craigslist special ftw
20 dollar phoenix gold 8gauge (yeah....) amp kit
cheap 16 gauge fred meyer speaker wire since aerostars use a "common ground" stereo system, so i re wired the car.

the sub and amp still bump HARD, i sold them to my uncle back in 07 when i bought my two phoenix gold octain r 10d's and the audiobahn amp that i killed. he rocked them in his semi truck till he retired, and now it just sits
