97 civic ex: A/C compressor doesn't engage but the condenser fan runs!
I noticed that my compressor was not engaging so ran it directly to the battery and it turned on so what could be the problem i checked the fuse under the steering wheel and its good so any advise?? Thanks

vitamin- i dont know i bought the civic like this i just tried adding the freon .. and i added a big 14oz bottle of freon

The refrigerant capacity of the A/C system is about 22 oz. If the system was empty when you added 14 oz, then it's not full. BUT if the system was empty, then there's a leak that must first be fixed. You can locate the leak by adding refrigerant that has a leak detecting dye added to it. Absolutely do not add any type of refrigerant that claims to have a leak fixing additive. This will destroy the A/C system.
i know the compressor works and so do the fans the fuse is good so is the relay i added another can of freon and nothing i dont see any leaks wtf?
Don't add refrigerant without hooking up a manifold gauge set to monitor pressures on the low and high side. If the pressure in the system is either too high or too low, the pressure switch will prevent activation of the compressor relay.
