Default Be careful with you pics

I got a message from a friend on another forum to check out this ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-01...mZ390242605678

I find that this ebay store is using pictures of my car to sell there rear valences. I do not have this company's products anywhere on my car nor gave them permission to use my pics. At least they blurred the plates. Just a reminder to the R community to watermark your pics if you can. I'm not to happy about having one of my pictures stolen and marked as their own. If anyone was thinking about using this store beware, the aren't pictures of their products.

I think you also need to be careful with your pics in the sense that there are thieves trolling these forums and if you post something with too much revealing landmarks, they can better pinpoint your location and jack your R.

Oh yeah big time. That's why if I buy anything on here, either I know the person or I give them an address to send to that is nowhere near where I actually live.

Haha, the thing is you'll need to drive to pick up your package.

You don't want those stalkers waiting for you on your way to the mailbox.

Oh... then in that case, my return address on those lanyard packets isn't really my address

yeah, if it bugs you so much, buy the item on ebay, leave the seller negative feedback saying that seller stole photos and would not take them down.

keep doing it over and over until seller stops stealing pictures

I remember I heard about an ebay sale where the guy stole pics from another guy but instead of saving the pics, he just linked to them. The guy he stole the pics from found out and changed the pics to pr0n so his ebay page was just loaded up with nudie pics.

Disagree. Do you have any security on your R?

Truth, but for the guys that lay low PS your plates blank, or take them off before pictures. The whole stealing pics in inevitable, people on this thread right now are saving the pics posted, I say watermark them if you can, if anything right on the car itself, I post with this in mind, and anyways there is nothing stating you cannot send ebay a email about the situation and how he is not selling legitimate products therefore he uses you pictures. Or even more than one person email them defending you, they will not deny your claim.

Isn't there a copyright photography law for these kind of things.

Depends if you have them in place for your pictures. If you upload them on the web and don't do such then anyone can snag them and make let's say a flier etc. But when it's false advertisement, and they claim it's one thing when it's not then you can go for it, it's just like if they use your picture to sell a car on CL. My ITR rolling shot was used for a forum banner, I was never reached, but then told them I was the photographer, and that it was ok until they gave me credit, which they did, but this is a whole other case if you want I will vouch for your legitimacy and email ebay if you choose to do so 98PAITR

Well I would not make it that easy, I rather no R get stolen, but would you rather your R get stolen in a mall in broad daylight thanks to no alarm, or get towed in broad daylight or your driveway at night, chances are if you go with the layers process the tilt sensor would go off. I will agree if we are talking about cheap security, then you just fail at life.

i dont see why people blame ebay for these things, ebay is awesome and its a popular place to find many different types of items...the people you want to blame are the vendors that are trying to make a money selling mass parts out of some warehouse that they dont even know instead of getting a real job or knowing nothing about it...so blame people not ebay. ill say it with ***** of steal. i love ebay, hate the people...
