where can i get a b16 swap? SOCAL.
i'm looking to swap a b16 into my del sol, it's stock and has way too many miles. where are some reputable places in socal to get it done? and how much do you think it will cost. thanks in advance.
your in socal and your asking this question, ok? hmotorsonline.com they can do the swap dont know how much cause im in texas and i do my own swaps, but if i was you id just rebuild for the price you pay to have a swap done
hmotors is nuts on prices. they're in Burbank so you don't have to pay for shipping to get it. the only thing i'm iffy on is their mileage quotes. how can a GSR from 12 years ago only have like 30,000 miles on it? it's a jdm motor. i just feel a bit lied to when i see that.
because japan has laws on the cars that when a car hits 35,000 miles or more they have to replace the older engine in them, so you getta motor with that many miles and their prices are resonable for what you get but, to each his own
i suppose it's reasonable for the mileage stated.

My boy Jacob from Sireality in Hawaiian Gardens might be able to help you out. Sells the engines and installs them without charging you an arm and a leg. PM me and I'll shoot you the number.
There are no laws that limit the amount of miles one can put on an engine in Japan.
There are a couple of reasons that Japanese engines don't get miled up nearly as badly as what we're used to seeing in America, and here are a just a few:
- Mass transit in Japan is plentiful
This means not having to drive from the suburbs to the city for people to go to and from work. With the bullet train (more costly to ride) and plenty of other ways to get to work, driving a car can be more of a hassle.
- Not nearly as much road to travel to get from end to end on the country
- Lots of toll roads
This makes commuting or road tripping much more of a hassle than it is here. We in America can drive 3,000 miles clear across our country with few toll roads (if any on some highways)
- Registration and fees become cost prohibitive as the vehicles get older
This is actually the one that people confuse with "law states only XXXX miles before vehicle must be dismantled." It's not stated so clearly, but yes the government has to have a way to discourage people from hanging onto their old cars, because with the lower miles they put on cars they'd never get rid of them and buy new cars - this would hurt their economy by not selling any new cars.
Basically as the car gets older it has to pass inspections and be deemed road safe. They also levy higher fees to keep cars on the road the older they get. At some point it becomes more and more reasonable to just buy a new car. With the fees attached to older cars it makes their used car market very weak, so many people sell the cars to dismantlers who them chop, ship, and sell the parts.
So it is possible to see JDM engines with well over 30K miles (60+KM) on them. The "30-60K miles" is just a guesstimate, not a rule.

Thanks alot for all your insight and timely replies.
the stock d15 has 230k miles and i was driving in the 103 degree weather and the car felt sluggish and felt like it was going to die on me. I'm looking to spend $1000 or less, is that reasonable? Thanks in advance.

yea your better off buying a replacement motor.. cause you cant get a full swap for 1k.. just replace...rebuilt...wiretuck and youll be good for a good minute and itll look good
on a stock d15b non vtech? it has alot of miles on it. does that matter? i don't really know much about rebuilding. and how much power gain? thanks again haha.
you could find a b16 for that price. it's just everything that can come along with it that'll put you in over 1,000. installation itself can cost about 400.
. i'm located in san diego. but don't mind driving :D thanks in advance everyone for all your input and advice!
