Icon6 New (to me) 92 2+2 si MPG

Sorry if these questions are answered somewhere embedded in some other threads around, I took a look, and didn't find anything useful, so I figured I'd ask and risk looking like a complete moron.

What (if any) MODS can I do to an H22a1 (manual) to INCREASE MPG?

I know, preludes want to go fast, and I'm sorry for saying, but if I can't afford to drive it every day, then I can't afford to drive fast every day... make sense?

Anyway, it has a CAI (w/splash guard) and custom cat back. Other than that it's all stock. (and the kid I'm buying it from painted the alloy wheels lime/money green...............)

Will the green wheels make my car more "green?" (sorry, I couldn't help myself. Just saw that.)

Really, though, what can I do (besides not driving on the clutch and shifting when I should) to improve efficiency? (these things should also improve performance too, no?)

The biggest factor is how you drive, but low rolling resistance tires and dropping weight will help slightly. A good tune-up is also a must; just the basics like air filter, fuel filter, tire pressure, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc etc...

I have a 95 Si that I get about 30/35 in, and you should be able to get close to that.

So basically do what it says to do in the owners manual (lol). *doh*

Thanks for your input! I'll make sure those things are taken care of. Will performance mods decrease my mpg? (afaik the cai and exhaust improve hp & mpg by making everything more efficient... is this true of other performance mods? Lighter weight flywheel/clutch/driveshaft? Different trans? (the stock trans rear gear is 4.7*:1 I think I read...) closer ratio trans? I've been itching to get a wrench in my hands for a while now

No a taller geared transmission like one from a 98-02 accord would increase MPG but decrease acceleration.

I think the best way (next to regular maintenance) of improving your MPG is to lean out the already overly-rich A/F ratios.

Its something that you'll have to sacrifice to get that MPG you wanted.

Preludes naturally run rich? (ugh) I guess I'll start with 87 if it's gonna behave like that. Is that something that I should get tuned professionally, or can do myself?

As for the Tornado thing, I worked at Pep Boys when I was a kid, and never saw one move. I asked, and people said it was a scam... Has anyone shown any dyno results to show it working? Popular Mechanics did an article once on these contraptions and found only power loss with them... I'm very hesitant - but open minded.
