1996 Integra LS Swap To 1994 Integra GS-R
ok heres my problem
i have a 1996 Acura Integra LS B18B1 NonVtec Swap with Harness and everything else needed mostly....
car got wrecked so i pulled it out...
just bought a 1994 Acura Integra GS-R DOHCVTEC B18C1 SHELL!!!
-NO MOTOR
-NO AXLES
================================================== ==================
I have the (96 LS motor OBD2) in the (94GSR OBD1 SHELL)car now and most of the things are now in the car like radiator condenser, lines, hoses etc....
now all i need to know is...
BEFORE I do this REAL LONG PROCESS need help
can i leave the GS-R Harness obd1 in the GS-R and just plugs right into a non vtec LS motor obd 2?
or am i going to have to take the WHOLE damn harness out from the LS from the passenger Firewall coming down passenger side dash next to heater blower trailing towards drivers side to fuse box then trailing to side panel driver side to driver side quarter panel to the fuel pump then working its way back to the passenger.... that WHOLE damn thing looks like its one harness and and it doesnt unplug halfway by the ecu...
((( tried pluggin the LS ECU into the GS-R Harness by the KickPanel Passenger Side and it looks like its different plugs too??? is their some kind of conversion harness for that too?? )))
??? PLEASE HELP I NEED TO KNOW VERY BADLY BEEN WAITING FOR TRUE REPLIES!!!
also if you think im going to need anything else please let me know thanks???

You need the obd2 harness since you're running the obd2 dizzy and injectors. you will also need an obd1 ls ecu or buy a conversion harness if they even make any that converts from obd1 to obd2. And when I say harness I mean only the harness in the engine bay.
then i wouldnt need any conversion harness or ecus? right?
pretty much i will be guttin the whole gsr obd1 harness out of the vehicle and replacing it with obd2 ls harness and ecu with motor swap and it should start ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
FOUND THIS ON A SITE OBD1 TO OBD2A CONVERSION HARNESS $90 is this wat you talking about?

---------------------------------------------------------------------
also am i gonna need GSR AXLES??? due to its a gsr shell?
or am i gonna need LS AXLES cuz its a LS MOTOR SWAP?
called HONDA they said they dont know but the Dimensions are different on both types and ppl said you go by wats based on by engine so i need LS AXLES?
If you plan on converting the harness under the dash to obd2 as well then No you wont need the obd1 conversion harness or ecu. But if you only plan on changing the harness in the engine bay then you will need the jumper harness to run an obd2 ecu unless you get an obd1 ls ecu.
You can use either axles. They're all the same. Just make sure they are for abs if you still have it intact.

if i dont have to change the obd1 indash harness i wont...
it seems like the engine harness thats connected to the engine that connects to the harness coming from passenger firewall it disconnects their when you unplug it...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
from my understanding is this the easy way im getting too confused...
1. Leave the OBD1 GS-R Harness in the Car ALONE...
2. Plug In All The Plugs of the OBD2 LS SWAP HARNESS into the OBD1GS-R Harness that by Passenger Fusebox
3. Buy The OBD1 To OBD2A Conversion Harness $90 and plug that in to one side of the OBD1 GS-R Harness Under KickPanel, to The ECU OBD2A
4. Start it up, only thing that would suck is i will have no obd2 port to check anylights and would need old school obd1 meter
Easy way is to leave use the obd2 main engine bay harness and get an ecu conversion harness and run the obd2 ecu. Trust me i've seen numerous people do it.
For example me, straight up obd2 everything minus the injectors which i rewired for obd1 and just changed my ecu to an obd1 by purchasing the ecu conversion harness and obd1 ecu. Plain and simple.

Pulling out the engine harness is not hard, especially if the engine is out of the car already. IF you want to use the OBD1 harness, you need a jumper harness for your ECU, Injectors, and Distributor.
If you have an OBD2 wiring harness, it's probably easier just to use that, so you don't have to deal with conversions or jumpers.
Use LS axles, since it's an LS transmission and half shaft(althought I think almost any b series axles should work). Wheelbase/offsets are the same on DC's so you should be fine. The only time you'd have to worry is if you're running a JDM 5 lug setup with 36mm outboards.

say you wanted to put an ob1 d16 in a 99 ob2 integra whats modifications in the harness would i have to do to make this work ? i have ecu and harness from the d16 ?
i understand the things you guys are trying to explain to me now is...
OPTION 1.
leave obd1 kickpanel harness alone which has the plugs for ecu/// then buy a obd1 to obd2 jumper harness, and simply plug in my obd2 ecu into it... from the (dash side)... then from (engine side) plug in my obd2 ls harness i have thats connected with the engine and plug it into the gsr obd1 harness, leftover plugs that dont match or hook up to the obd1 is because their related to vtec etc... and i wont be using them... after going this route i will need to buy a used or new distributor and injectors> what kind am i looking for? obd1 distributor and injectors or are there some type ?
OR
OPTION 2.
Change The Inside OBD1 Harness (which is a pain) to the OBD2 Harness I Have... Once doing that, my OBD2 ECU will plug right into my OBD2 Harness I Put into the car from (DASH KICKPANEL SIDE) moving onto the (Engine Side), prettymuch plug in all plugs from engine harness into the obd2 harness i put into the car... at the end doin it this way will be cheaper ?
reasons...
1.NO injectors swapping needed.
2.NO Distributor swapping needed.
3.NO Conversion Jumper Harness needed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
correct me if im wrong from any of my understandings, thanks once again guys i just didnt understand this due to never swapping from obd1 to obd2.. once i get this down it will be so much easier for further projects thanks great help

okay okay. i just did a obd2 swap into an 0bd1 car. super simple.
throw in ls in with its 0bd2 harness. it should plug right in.
get an obd1 ls ecu. theyre everywhere.
start ur car and have some fun. did this swap a couple weeks ago. piece of cake.
btw. the swap was obd2 b18c1 into an obd1 eg hatch si. everything went super smooth.

i thought the 96 integra engine harness mounted on each side of the strut towers.... and not into the firewall.. ive put a 99 itr harness and swap in an eg and used the obd2 stock harness and plugged it ino the towers of the civic and wham it started...

1.leave the obd1 harness alone in the car
2.put in my ls motor swap with obd2 plug it in obd1 (leftovers plugs dont matter cuz they are vtec related)
3.BUY a LS OBD1 ECU plug that straight into the OBD1 Harness by kickpanel (with out any purchase of the jumper harness)
4.NO need of changin injectors or distributor...
(all i need is a obd1 ecu) and car will start right up and im good to go...
if this is all i need let me know asap cuz i just ordered the Jumper Harness, so i can call in and cancel my order! thanks
anybody else? fill in please if this guy is right?
You seriously need to do some research, you've been asking the same questions over and over. everyone posted here has given you the answer.
im sorry if me trying to be super safe bothers you>
as far as you saying i need to seriously need to do some research, well im in the RIGHT discussion thread to be doing that...
verifying something doesnt hurt you nor anyone else, and if its bothering you i guess you arent the only one on Honda Tech that can help me and you dont have to come and read anything...
( THE LAST GUY WHO HAVE POSTED TRYING TO HELP ME HAS 1 POST!!!) Im not just gonna go buy a LS ECU if not needed by just him saying thats how he did it, i want MORE opinions!
LOL I gave you the damn answer. So did two other members. If you actually research you would find what we have posted in other threads. But you dont so you keep asking the same questions over and over like a 2 year old. Number of post has no part of being smarter or having more knowledge. Its just a number. I'm talking experience over # of post.

moving on...
from what you JUST tried to help me with, what you have said before, that doesnt help me with what VITO said in his post to help!
CAN I LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE IN THE OBD1 CAR, ALL HARNESSES, and just buy a LS obd1 ecu plug it in and BOOM done....
without purchasing jumper conversion harness/injectors or distributor/changing out any harness!!!!
from his post i understand all i need is ls obd1 ecu plug it in obd1 harness i have in car already, engine side plug in obd2 ls into obd1 engine harness, leftover plugs leave alone cuz there vtec related and my swap is non vtec so it wont effect nothing, i wont be needing any distributor or injector replacement..
plain and simple LIKE he said... correct me if im wrong.
thanks for your help.
LOL this is funny.
Alright so your motor is a 96(0bd2a). Your car is an 94 Integra(obd1).
Your easiest route is:
Use the obd2 harness ( the harness that you see in your engine bay) Or in other words the harness that came with the ls motor.
And
Leave everything behind the dashboard alone "dont even **** with it)
Now this part IMO is up to you ( im assuming you have neither):
You could either buy an obd1 ls ecu which will plug right into your harness underneath the dash. If you do this it will eliminate a few sensors that the obd2 model supports. I dont know it off the top of my head but you can search for that. No it will not hurt anything since the Obd1 ECU is not looking for it.
OR
You can buy an obd1 to obd2a ECU conversion harness and also purchase an obd2 ls ECU which will support all the sensors that the obd2a motor has.
By using the obd2 harness in the engine bay you will NOT have to buy an obd1 distributor or obd1 injectors or obd1 alternator. Get it?
Using the obd1 GSR harness you will need to switch the injectors, distributor, and alternator to obd1 which will cost you more $$$$$$$$$$$

one more thing you say in your QUOTE using obd2 harness in engine bay you dont have to buy nothing like injectors, distributor, alt etc....
or
using (obd1 gsr harness) are you referring to this harness as in the ENGINE?
because i dont have a engine harness thats obd1 so my only route will be obd2 which is better then, for me cuz, wont need none of the things said above.
you will use your obd2 harness and not change anything... everything on your setup is compatibal when you plug in an obd1 ecu.....
THANKS ALOT NOW THAT IS VERY UNDERSTANDING!

Using the obd2 harness "engine bay harness" it will be direct plug and play since you already have the obd2 distributor, injectors, and alternator.
thanks man once again, sorry for any understanding but everybody learns and understands at different rate, but you managed to help me out anyways, so i aprreciate it.
