i called about a paint job, the local shop around here said around $800 is that a fair price for a basic black or white paint job?

 

hard to say what paint are they going to use? good prep work? and body work? The prep and body work is the most important part of a paint job and you dont want to skimp out on that

 

a mayco job is about 300 but its shitty prep work and they dont remove all the window seals and stuff like that. you have to ask if they are going to be removing the windows or at least the window seals. a good professional paint job should run you about 2-4k depending how thorough they are with it. i would say that it s prolly not gonna turn out to well.

 

and if you are doing a whole dif color and have to do door jambs and all, than they are prolly gonna do a bad job for that money

 

wow, $800 is super cheap if it's a good job. The cheapest I have is $1100 for a 7 day job.

 

you get what you pay for when it comes to bodywork/paint.I suggest you save up another 850 that should get you an okay paintjob
