Icon3 After b18 rebuild, shop handed me box of unidentified parts from my engine

i got my engine back from the machine shop and they threw this part in the box of parts and they didnt know what it was but i need help knowing what it is and where it goes.....

i think it goes on the block but i dont know....

plz help

It is not uncommon for a machine shop to not reassemble engine blocks/cylinder heads. They might disassemble things from the part they're machining, but ideally those parts should have been stripped before being dropped off in the first place.

Rarely will a customer (unless the customer is repair a shop/mechanic that has a lot of machine work outsourced) already know exactly what needs to be removed from the head or block, so the machine shop just usually takes the stuff off and just puts it in a box for the customer.

Undoubtedly that orifice would have needed to be removed prior to a deck resurfacing. I'm sure the OP did not know this, so it was left in. The machine shop took it out to their job, and did not put it back in. I'll give them kudos for even giving it back at all lol.
