ok so some idiots thieves broke into my 96 integra ls wednesday morning at my house trying to steal my car around 4am. Lucky i so happen to be going fishing that morning as well and woked up in time to noticed what was going on. i have a very long drive way cause i live on a 5 acre land and never thought anyone would try to come down my driveway to steal my car or my brothers car since my other two younger brother have integra as well a 94 gsr and a 98 ls. so when i woked up i went out to check the weather outside to c how it was, as i was about to come back in i heard some noises coming from where my car was parked at, than i heard a loud *** noise like "popped" and i was like wtf, i was on our balcony and went a little closer to the stair way to check and saw somebody head by my driver side and i thought it was my friend at first but didint c his car so i guess they notice me and took off running. Their were a total of 4 guys one was in a black car parked on top of the drivway and the other three were trying to break into the car. i started yelling out to them as soon as i noticed what was going on they took off really fast so didn't know or seen who they were since it was dark. i checked my car and notice they popped my ignition so it wasnt too bad since they didin't take anything or my car so after that i still went fishing but when i got back and relly checked my car i noticed my stock oem steering wheel was broken and i was like wtf and realized that the loud popped noise i heard was them breaking my steering wheel rite off the steering column. the grooves where the steering wheel goes onto broked in half and the other half is on the steering wheel. i have a killswitch as well which they could not find so even if they did they wouldn't even been able to drive off stupid amatuer thieves. now i can't even steer at all. also that night both my brother forgot to lock their cars one forgot to turn on his alarm and my other brother forgot to turn on his killswitch. both their cars were not broken into cause they started on mine first since i think they got to my house around 3:30-3:45 all our cars are just stock with aftermarket suspension and rims. well got to beef up my security more now ill b ready if they ever come back again

sorry bout the long post

so i know i have to get a new steering column but can i reuse my old steering wheel or do i have to get a new one since that broken piece is in there or can i be able to get that out?

same thing happen to me. i just bough my teg and only for 2 week/ parked at the mall for a movie 10pm-12am and i saw they popped off the ign. and my steerring wheel. ****ing amaturs. if your going to steal it, learn how to. so basically i had a extra steering column and put that in and used needle nose to get the other part out of my steering wheel. align it and then rescrew the star screw back in. the only problerm was the extra steering column is obd1, mines a obd2. so no airbag and horn unless i open the plugs and rewire it. but as long as the car steered i was good.

if i get an aftermarket steering what size would b best for my integra a 320mm,330m,350mm,etc. im leaning more on the 350mm ones sine i don't really like the small steering wheel but what size is the stock one though?

Now im kinda worried. I live with a similar setup as you. 6 acres, long drive way. 98 gsr though. hmmm time to beef up the security.
I have a momo mod 78 wheel. its the smaller of the two available sizes from momo. it took about a week to get used to not having to turn the wheel as far but i love it. it is much smaller than the factory one. the only reason i bought the mod 78 was because it has a flat bottom and is much smaller than the factory wheel. me being 6ft 2in and about 215lb it was a really tight fit with the factory wheel. on the down side i cant drive with my knees anymore but now i also have room to move.

I happen to live at a house on 5 acres too with a long driveway, kinda had me paranoid for a second but my car always sleeps in the garage

 

I wish i had the luxury of a garage at night. I have been losing a lot of sleep at night for the past year. everytime I hear an atypical sound from outside i jump out of bed to see if someone is trying to steal my teg. I hate worrying that much but i cant help it. i'm a really light sleeper so that doesnt help either. any little sound i will wake up to. maybe one day all of the worrying and loss of sleep will be worth it when i prevent my teg from being stolen. sigh

Get a 20 inch AR-15 and an EOtech with magnifier package so you can hit them from the balcony while they're on the move! Hate thieves.

yea i no wish i would of knew sooner i have a total of 4 brother and were all about a year apart from each other being that im 22 and the second oldest these thieves would of had it if we caught them

never thought anyone would try and steal from me since i live out in the country and nothing like this never happens around my area oh well you can never be to safe and sure bout anything, but im ready for them wen they do show up again with my rifle
