96 civic hb - Eibach Pro Street S Coilover Review
Lots of people are asking which full coilover system to go with and are in search of people's opinion so i decided to give my review on Eibach Pro Street S Coilovers. These coilovers were bought for my DD car that i am using for school and work. I wanted something a little more smoother than my brothers Tein SS on his civic.
Car: 96 civic hb
*Note: I put the the thicker springs in the front and the thinner ones in the back. Not to sure if that is correct or its the other way around. I called Eibach and gave them the part number off the coils and that is what the guy told me over the phone. Correct me if I am wrong*
Coilover kit: Eibach Pro Street S Coilovers
1-3 inch lower in the front and rear as stated on Eibach's website.
*NOTE: these coilovers I am using are for the 94-00 integra and not for the 96-00 civics*

Now here is a photo of my car with the coilover kits on

now here is close up on the front wheels

keep in mind these are for the 94-00 integra and front is set to about 8 rings up from the last ring meaning the front can go lower.
here is the rear and its the lowest you can go

here is what the car looks like from a side view. i tried my best to show you the height difference

My Opinion: I think these coilovers are ok because as you can see from the pix the rear coils are adjusted to the lowest setting and they don't even tuck the tire so I don't think its 1-3 inches in lowering in the rear but for some odd reason the fronts can go lower. I don't know if its because they are ment for the integras only (i don't really see much difference if they were civic coils or integra coils. I know the spring rate may be the same or off by a little only) but its the lowest i can go and the coilovers bottom out in the rear when you get on a ruff road. My brother's Tein SS does not bottom out and is much lower than my car. But I guessing i'll drive it around until the spring settles and sags(maybe idk). YOU CAN FEEL ALL THE BUMPS ON THE ROAD EVEN ON THE SMOOTHEST STREET YOU WILL STILL FEEL THE LITTLE BUMPS TRUST ME! I drove my HB to the normal streest, ruffest streets in town and over the train tracks but the good thing is i can fly over train tracks at 40 MPH with no problem mean the car is not flying everywhere it just bottoms out. My brothers Tein SS are about the same but i feel that the Tein SS ride is smoother but not by much. If youring asking if i would recommend these to anyone...I would have to say NO for now because the ride is not what I was expecting. I have used Eibach springs and GC coilovers with shock combo and they ride WAY WAY smoother.
Overall I believe these coilovers are not bad but again i just recently installed them. I was hoping the rear would sit lower but now i have to adjust them higher because they are bottoming out. They are good for what i paid for them which is $500 used with shipping on ebay from a shop in Fontana, CA but when i go them they looked brand new meaning no paint chip on the springs or coil sleeve damage.
Please leave any recommendations how to lower the rear and not have it bottom out or you own experience with this coilover system.

i'm not quite sure what i'm supposed to take away from this review...
did you purchase these as strictly DD workers and simply for the look of being slammed? you don't seem to touch on their performance at all. did you stick with factory rates or did you get them customized? how do they "feel?" and i don't mean going down bumpy roads or over train tracks at 40 mph... which seems fast??
i hope someone can chime in on the rear coils. i know that there's an eibach employee or something that posts on here. i'll see if i can find out his SN. EDIT: found it. vtecvoodoo
i have a set of these, brand new, sitting at home... i'm getting them installed in a couple weeks and will chime in again.

go and install yours and keep me updated. i've been trying to search other forums but no one has give much thought or info about these coilovers or has posted up pix on how low they can go.
i certainly am not looking to slam my car... i think less than a 2 inch drop. probably closer to a 1.5" drop around. i think the rates on mine (i bought them second-hand, even though they're new) are customized at 350/300. i'll have to double check.
Yeah I have heard these aren't that great. Basically the lower you go the less shock travel you have with these. I have Function and Form Type 1s and I paid $630 shipped for them with Blox LCAs from weksos. Regardless of height you never adjust the preload. What that means is that the spring will have the same amount of stroke room to compress and decompress independent of height setting. In turn the ride quality stays the same at all heights up until the point where you start bottoming out the upper control arms. As long as you're not hitting big bumps/dips that makes your UCAs to hit the shock tower, then you're good. These ride pretty nice and grips the road very nicely. Makes me feel pretty confident at all times. I would suggest these over the Pro S. Cost is pretty similar.

hey sorry, i completely forgot about this thread!
ok so i've had the coilovers on for a few weeks now and i don't think my experience is going to be an across-the-board type of experience for everyone because my spring rates are relatively soft at 350/300.
so when i do some hard cornering i rub, but i have to readjust the height. my height adjustment tool did not come (bought second hand) with the package, so i had to order another one. i think with my softer rates a front/rear sway bar set will definitely help. i have an Si 26mm front sway sitting around and i'm looking for a jdm ITR rear sway.
as far as ride quality goes, i'm actually quite impressed with these. will you feel all the bumps? heck yes. but it's not jarring, and it's not bothersome at all. mind you, i once had a lowered evo and that thing was STIFF. this doesn't bother me, though again, i think these are custom spring rates.
i still need to get it aligned, but as far as cornering is concerned, there is a significant improvement in control, though there is a little too much roll for my liking, hence my desire to upgrade the sway bars. i did some hard turns and figure 8s in an empty parking lot after i got them installed and they felt quite planted. in fact, my lack of an LSD seems markedly more pronounced.
this is all from the seat-of-my-pants feel, and i don't have any real experience with other civic setups, so i can't really elaborate too much since i haven't gotten an alignment, i'm still on my stock steelies with some EHHH tires, and i don't know the OTS spring rates vs. mine.
but do i like them? yes, a lot. i paid 700 shipped for mine and i think it's well worth the price. the ride, while stiffer, doesn't bother me, and i haven't bottomed out anywhere. just the rubbing on occasion (going down exit ramps hard). would i pay retail or close to retail (13xx)? no. no way. but if you can get a deal on these, i'd feel quite satisfied.
i'll come back to this thread after i get my rear camber kit in and a proper alignment and some better seat time.

The ride height looks good. I would lower the back a tad more to cover the wheel gap. It doesn't look like a 1"-3" drop for the rear. You said that these were for an Integra? It might have something to do with it. Check for part #'s. I had an Integra with eibach 1.7" drop springs with blow shocks and the height is almost like yours. Then I upgraded to koni yellows and GC street setup and with rear itr swaybar, what can I say? It was worth the money.
The fronts are lower b/c there is a giant weight called an engine. Hatches weight distribution is around 60/40. Get a fat friend to sit in the back and it'll suddenly makes sense and even out.
Should spent your $500-ish dollars on progress CS-II. Good customer service and you could have picked your own spring rates.
For being a coilover set, I don't think t should bottom out like that. Is it possible that you have the springs backward? I would contact another eibach rep and double check.
