The 17x7 4x100 weigh in around 19lbs. Even if you could cram the 17x8.5 on the ITR, it would be a 22lb wheel or so.
No thanks.
Edit: looks like there may be a 17x7 in a 5x114.

Since it has the wider lip and the spokes don't run all the way to the edge of the wheel, I think you could pull off this 17" on a DC2R.
I think I would look really good and I know someone has tried orbit can't find a pic any where
Actually, they where first seen on the CTR and TSX at Thunderhill 2 years ago.

Yep.

In terms of Mugen rims, that aren't that light and buyer beware. The GPs come in a USDM and JDM version with different offsets and lugnut seats, so know which one's you are getting. IIRC somebody tried to put GPs on an R already and the offsets where way off.

Yep.

And ~15.5lbs for a 17x7" wheel is pretty darn light. My old 17x7.5" SSR Comps I had on my DC5 were about 16lbs, so the Mugens are where they should be.
As for the Spoon wheels--unless you are a total Spoon *****, I see no reason to buy them. They are more expensive than a set of lighter Enkeis and are also heavier. As for looks--I'm neither here nor there on them.
At least the old SW388's were super-light. They were ugly, but they were damn light and pretty strong.

If they actually were made by Rota, I wouldn't care either. You can bet your *** that if Spoon is putting their name on it, they've paid for the manufacturing process that they have specified the manufacturer to use. China, Taiwan, Japan ... doesn't matter to me. All are totally capable of making a great wheel. It's up to the buyer to have onus over what processes/materials/techniques the manufacturer uses. The cost associated with these factors are generally passed down to the consumer. Taiwan or China can make as good, or as bad a wheel as you want them to ... it all depends on how deep your wallet is and how much involvement you want to have in the overall process.
I trust the Spoon name and have for years. If I were in the market for wheels in this size, I'd consider them for sure.
So to answer your question ... yes.
made in taiwan...lol
no thx for pricey heavy spoon rims haha
too bad my old sw388 are only 15x6.5...
i would keep them if they were 16x8...

btw
for cast rims, FN01RC and RPF1 are lighter for less money

exactly!
however, cast version emotion were expensive and heavy. Old Advan were expensive as well but they bent easily for those light weight one like RC...
