Default 2001 Ford Lightning: Southern Revival

Nothing like the Panda Man exotics over here but its been a while since I posted anything. I was pretty happy with the results of this Lightning so here ya go!

This episode is starring an old mare that needed a helping hand to get back to her glory days. She was a one owner truck, recently purchased, that used to be covered decals and had plenty of swirls present. I'll let the pics do the talking from here but this was a 10 hour detail, and I could have easily invested more time.

BEFORE PICS

We plan on removing the decals on the lower part of the doors on my next visit. Couldn't cover it on this one.

Recently painted hood covered in buffer trails

A few shoplight pics

PROGRESS PICS
This pic is not out of focus. The hood wasn't cut properly after it was painted so it diffuses the light in a real funky manner.

The beauty of the 3M Rubbing Compound is that it works great as a paint leveler.

AFTER PICS

The bed cover was a tough one. =/

:datass:

Couple interior shots...

Thanks for checking it out!!!
Any questions about the detail or materials used, feel free to post. Comments / constructive criticism welcomed, all others PM me!

Yes sir all rotary. I have a DA but I haven't used it in quite a while. I do work for a lot of old import graduates, that squash is pretty common. Thank you btw, I need to work my way into an exotic club and expand my ol' resume!

My favorite truck is a Lightning, aside from the same-era Powerstroke Diesel.

The compound I have is WHITE. 3M changes all the time tho so you can use whatever they offer if its the Perfect-It 1, 2 and 3. Specifically, its the Rubbing Compound, Machine Polish, and Ultrafine Machine Polish. I use a 3M White braided wool pad, and Lake Country white and black foam pads.

Those fiberglass tounneau covers suck. I bought one for my last truck, and clayed it the first day I had it on the truck. Brand new clay bar was delegated to wheels after that. Was covered in over spray, and have no idea what other contaminants were. They are hard to get looking as good as the rest of the vehicle.

Looks great! Man that rolling stock looks so small on that truck compared to what newer trucks have and what people put on them.

Thanks! You're right, not too many nice trucks without 20"+ nowadays.
