Welding on wooden table ???
hey guys i'm new to welding and am in the process of buy a mig welder i want to be able to weld my exhaust and my intercooler pipes. I also just built a new wooden workbench in my garage. This is the only place i really have to do the welds what can i do to be able to weld on wood with out causeing a fire.
i have a wooden table i do welding on.. works fine for me for tig welding, but any slag that drops WILL catch on fire IMMEDIATELY ( happens to me all the time, my wood bench is all burned up already haha) . So i dont reccomend it.
Well i'm new to welding so lol there many be a lot dropping lol is there something i can do like put sheet metal down or a welding blanket or something to make it safer.
Ok that sounds good how about the floor thers carpet on the floor lol i'm kinda rethinking this place for welding. Also like i said i'm new to welding do you know any place or websites or books with good info to learn how to weld better or is getting a scrap peice and cutting it in two and practice welding it good enought.
