Default Part inquiry...o2 sensor b16a3

So I had my d15z1 swaped for a b16a3 it is running very poorly. the shop says it may be the o2 sensor since that was a code that tue cel produced. when i asked what o2 sensor was on it they told me it was the one off of the d15. My question is: is there a differance between the 2 o2 sensors? A buddy of mine says the d15 isn't a heated o2 and the shop says they are all the same, so right now im alittle lost and dont know which is right.

There a 3 different O2 sensors for OBD1 D15 engines. 1 wire O2 sensor found in US CXs, these are unheated, next are the normal D15B7 4 wire heated O2 sensor, and finally the 5 wire D15Z1 VX wideband O2 sensor, also heated.

ok so it is a 4 wire that is on there, i just went out and checked. so now new question: if the d15z1 vx motor in my eg before the swap had the 4wire heated o2 sensor, would that cause the o2 to not work properly? Also if the o2 is fouled out or no longer doing its job properly, will that cause my b16a3 to bog at partial throttle and/or get terrible gas mileage or would it be something else entirely?

Depends. '93 - '95 California spec VXs got a 4 wire O2 like the D15B7s, i neglected to mention this in my previous post, if this is the case then there wont be an issue. If this was not the case then you'll have to repin a wire to get the 4 wire O2 sensor to function properly, see diagram below:

Those are typical symptoms of a bad O2 sensor. Sometimes the engine will run fine, sometimes you'll experience drive-ability problems like the ones you just described.

so today i was going to get a new o2 from autozone after work. well i started it up this morning and as i drove it into work i noticed that it hadnt bogged down at all. As i was driving home i was expecting it to start and it didnt. idk what happened but it seemed to have fixed itself in the bogging issue, not sure about the gas mileage yet tho. ill find out the next couple days.

any reasons y it works now? maybe the ecu remapped itself? any ideas?
