Default ITR cluster help

So I just bought a 96 spec itr cluster and I swapped out the green film and the bulbs I needed for everything to light up. Now the problem I am having is whenever my key is in the ON position or the car has been started the speed meter on the cluster jumps to 60 km/h. Whenever the car is off, the speed meter goes back to zero. Am I doing something wrong?

Swapping the green films isnt recommended because sometimes the circuits dont go to the same spots. If you are putting a 96 spec cluster in a 98+ car, the easiest thing to do is just put the actual gauges inside your 98 spec cluster housing, no green film swapping. I did this and my jdm 96 spec works perfectly in my 98 car. BlueIntegraBoy actually did a write up on this method, if you wanna search for it

My car is a 96gsr. I did not think about switching the gauges of the itr to my gsr one. I will probably try that tomorrow.

you're bumping a thread that you last were going to try something with? what happend? ttt tells us nothing, by the way a real 96 jdm itr cluster will be a direct swap in a 96-97 usdm gsr, it's possible you have a 98+ cluster or? no clue, bad cluster? the vss is the other possible cause as mentioned above

When you swapped over the actual gauges did you swap the green films back?

Yes I swapped the green films back to the normal clusters. So now I have itr gauges in my gsr cluster with the original green film and bulbs.

the cluster gauges have the same bolt patern on regardless what year the cluster is, so just by doing cluster gauges swap should have given you perfect results just by keeping the back of the housing and reusing front bezel with the glass of ITR cluster with its gauges... you may need to port black icon plastic cards from one gauge to the other as the meanings will be different on some
