1991 awd pore mans type r motor swap help
i just picked up a 1991 honda civic awd in perfect condition for $300 with clean title. im currently building a poor mans type r that im going to throw in the car. i know it wont be a awd anymore after i do the swap but i think it will still be sick as hell. noone would expect that thing to ripp. its going to be my first build and im just curious of what i need to do to it to make the swap happen. like ecu? if i have to compleatly switch out the wireing harness to work on my obd1 motor? what axles do i have to use, cuz i been hearin people that do motor swaps have problems with axles fallin out or somethin. stock motor is a d16y6
WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE MY CAR A DRIVER!!!!!!!
so far i got
82mm gsr block
ls crank
crower rods
82mm hi comp pistons
port n polish jdm b16 head with gsr cams
port matched type r intake

Did a similar swap on one of my wagons. Pretty much the same as any other B series swap into an EF.
I used my existing DX dpfi wiring harness and OBD1 GSR wiring harness to make the needed wiring harness. First you need to convert to mpfi and then to OBD1. You will also require a OBD-0 to OBD-1 jumper harness. I used a P72 GSR ecu but a P28 sohc vtec ecu will also work since you will require some sort of chipped/programmable ecu for tuning anyway. In addition to the B series motor you already have you will need a B series trans,EF swap specific mounts such as Hasport /Innovative, shortened B series shift linkage and 90-93 Integra axles w/intermediate shaft. Some people have also used 94-95 Integra axles and intermediate shaft. Also 90-93 Integra rear trans mount bracket. Good luck.

stock injectors would probably be fine. if you want to play it safe then maybe go with some 330cc units.

i want to make this swap as easy as possible if thats possible lol. i dont think im going to keep it a awd. thank you for input and the thread. it helped tons
Damn! Those old school AWD trannys were nutts strong bro. The newer B series AWD are weaker than the oldies. I would just do z6 turbo awd. But I built a PMTR engine in my last EF 190hp.
I was happy I ran pr3 pistons ITR cams B16 head I ported/polished, GSR dual intake springs on the Exhaust side and some other goodies

Makes no sense.
ok, I'm sorry.
I thought the Op was going to continue with the awd setup.
have now read that he wants to ditch the idea and wants to run FWD setup.
what a waste.
can't hate you for it though, just don't agree with what you're doing.
they are rare as setup the awd Civic (well at least its rare here in AU) so its such a waste.
still can't hate you for it though
lol

that makes alot of sence to just keep it a awd since there arent many around. i think im just going to do that with this one and get another fwd car for cheap like i did with this one. i mean hell. there are tons of cars out there that are nice and cheap. i got my awd for $300 and its clean as hell.
thanks for knockin some sence in me haha
