Default EM1 K24a2 Swap On a Budget

Ok so i search but cant really find anything. What diffrent things do i need if im going k24 instead of k20. What headers would i need due to the taller longblock? Mounts? I was thinking ekk2 but is there a cheaper way like Innovative? I already bought a type s tranny and i got $5500 left. Can i swap it with that much left? What harnesses would i need? im also going to try and keep a/c and p/s but the hybrid racing a/c kit sounds pricey. If you could please help me figure this out i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Alot of custom work hasport mounts aftermarket header. I Think they make a way to no use k pro but if you have to its 1000 the linkage is custom. Its gonna be alot of work from you and not a shop to do it for that much money. Plus you are gonna want a k20a2 head.

I already saw the first problem with this build/swap and thread. You used K24 with BUDGET.

Those 2 dont mix

k24 and budget don't belong in the same sentence.

K so I found a k20 type r longblock for 2400. Should I get that or should I just go with the k24a2? It's going in a em1 so that's y I wanted the k24 cuz my cars heavier. Any opinions?

You're really basing your engine choice on the matter of a few hundred lbs difference in car model?

Drop a B+turbo in there and use the rest of the money for some school time.

Em1 heavy? Well i think it depends on the perspective!

Like has been said k24 is not a budget built!
Why don´t you start with a simple k20a2 swap and further down the road put a k24 short block....but at least you will be enjoying your ride.

I didn't the k20 and k24 blocks were that much different. I thought you could use the same mounts like all the b series motors. I think you could do the rest with 5500 easy.

What exactly do I need that's different from the k20 to do a k24 swap? I heard something about a crv bracket? which one? What part number? What about the intake manifold and the pulleys?

you will need a k24a1(crv) timing chain side bracket to mount up to ur car

u can go with Hasport Ekk1 mounts which does not require u to use a eg subframe but gives u a very low oil pan clearance or u can go with a Ekk2 version witch does require a eg subframe and gives u a better oil pan clearance and mounting angle

hybrid-racing has those AC and PS kits already so if u thats wut u want then buy it otherwise ur **** out of luck for now

oh and ur new best friend is www.k20a.org u will find more info there

it's a legitimate engine swap, with a lot of credentials.

It is top of the line, so it takes top dollar.

It is hands down the best swap out there if you have an unlimited money supply.

5500 is enough
K24 motors are cheap...like I've seen some on Craigslist for $400-500. Though I wouldn't trust dropping one of these straight in, it would be great if you plan to build one.
The K20 valvetrain will fit in one of the K24 heads. Why would you want to do this? K20 heads get destroyed and it would let you ad "real VTEC" to the K24.

You can get by without KPRO if you use a Type R ECU. I believe they don't have an immobilizer. Also there is a guy who can remove the immobilizer from ECUs. The downside is you will need KPRO anyway if you ever want to tune/mod the motor.

You should really check out K20A.org if you want better information. HT is more B/D/H series motors, K20A is K and J series and they know a lot more.

If you just want a running K swap, its not that terrible. Yeah, it will be a lot, but most of the expense people see is the billet and other fancy parts. You could reuse the stock fuel rail if you block off one end, use a cheaper intake manifold instead of a $1000 one, fabricate a lot of parts, use a DSM or Accord/prelude shifter box, etc to save some money.

The expensive part of a k-swap is definitely the tune, header, custom parts, ecu, etc.

The key term that gets brought into this is BUDGET, and to do it right its just not possible. Cash flow and high supply of it is key for this to be a success. Without that its just another hacked up honda on the road.
I have never once doubted this swap/motor or its potential. It is an amazing platform with almost unlimited potential. I just dont see any justification to spending 7k or so for a relatively stock motor swap with a tune and a couple mods when a well built b series, h series or even d series turbo will walk all over it for a fraction of the price.
So my final though is if your a baller, go for it, im jealous...lol.
But for those who want this motor just to say "i have a k swap" like 98% of the people who do it then save then pennies and buy a TSX, it comes stock and 100 times nicer then a civic.
