Icon6 exhaust help.

i just aquired an evo 2 exhaust and i love it exept for the exhaust tapping my chassi. it seems that the piece right after the first bend is too short and is cutting the corner thus clipping my chassi. i tried many things from changing the rubber pieces between the for more taunt ones, offsetting the one hanger attached to the chassi in front of the rear, im just really fed up and i dont know what to do. i have been contemplating on cutting and extending that one piece or repositioning the hangers, but i dont know why an exhaust made for my car would need such modification. if anyone has any suggestions before i start hacking things up let me know. i circled the part i considered cutting and extending in the pic as well where it hits.

Pretty sure there is a heat shield mounted to the chassis in that spot? Is that where it is banging? Have you tried bending the shield back a little?

If that doesnt work, how about creating a barrier between thee pipe and chassis. For example, buy some heat resistant material such as heat wrap and mate it to the problem are with some 3m double sided foam strips. Just an idea. Woudlnt want to hack up such a nice/expensive exhaust.

em2 08-i bought from a guy here and it fits perfectly everywhere else except for that spot. do you think it will be fine if i bended the downpipe a little to get it away?

portaman03- i wish it was the heat shield but no its actually the chassis, im thinking about doing that next but ill still like to move it away, im not gonna hack it up until i tried every option.

Another idea is to check your motor mounts. They are common problem on our cars and if they are torn (as mine were), the engine will not sit where it should, which would cause it to be out of line.
