Manual to Automatic Conversion.
I've been looking for a 96-'00 civic hatchback, but all the ones around for sale have mainly been manuals. (needing this car for my girlfriend who currently lacks the potential of a manual).
How hard is the conversion? I've already done previous engine swaps and stuff to the like in my EF already though. Was just wondering what it all involves removing/adding and the pain scale 1-10. 10 being engine swap which really wasn't hard, just time consuming.

I don't think there's a lot of info out there about manual to auto either, though I haven't recently searched.
But, if you can still go the easy way, did you check this place out?

Oh, and I only searched for very near to your area. I'm personally willing to drive an hour for any car I like, farther depending on how uncommon said car might be.
Basically its like this, you either learn to drive a manual or buy an automatic to start with. If you want it done right you're going to have to replace the engine and cabin harnesses. Going the other way is pretty painless.
Its really not worth the work to try to convert it to automatic. You need a new ECU, different wiring (even under the dash the wiring is different), a different harness (for under the hood), the automatic mount, depending on the year/model u need automatic cv joints, the shifter mechanism, etc. Automatics use alot of variables to do what they do, which requires more sensors and more complex wiring. A car that came manual lacks this wiring (as it would be pointless to have it) and thats why you will have to change so much. To convert a car to manual (I did this to mine), is not very hard. Because like I said before, its much more simple.

Sounds like it the girlfriend really "lacks the potential to learn to drive stick" then you're going to have to widen your search area or talk her into a coupe or sedan (which seem to be much more plentiful as automatics in your area).
or he could widen his search and look for a new girlfriend. Possibly one that can drive stick :X
it is not impossible but you should swich all cables inside your car and more, under the steering wheel tranny ecu, intake manifold with everything include on it, pedals, radiator and find an automatic one, it come with some conection for tranny oil, you will need to be patient and do a lot of work men
Hahaha, well this one cooks and cleans and doesn't nag... annnnddd is interested within the work I do to my car. Sooo perfect for me.
