98 ls teg build thread K series complete make over
Whats going on Honda-Tech, this is my first build thread I have been building my integra for a little over a year now. I had finished it once already and I spun a bearing on the stock ls motor. So I decided to completely redo it from the ground up. The idea was to finish my type r long block and throw it in the 4dr with some small turbo set up. But since I have changed my plans and now I'm going fully built K. My set up consits of a K24a4 element block with a K20a2 type s head. I have been working very close with Tim from hybrid racing who had set me up with my dealer account. We have started putting together a build list for the motor and started ordering parts.
This build was completed the first time pretty fast but I am taking my time with it the second time around. I am doing a complete brake and wire tuck. Along with complete engine bay shave and some custom paint work.
Here is a little about the car. I bought this car in decemeber of 2008 from brooklyn NY for 575$. The car itself is 1998 4 door ls which was in pretty ruff shape but it was work able. It was an automatic that was missing the rear taillights, rear bumper, the long block, trans and wheels. The front end was hit by a pepsi truck, it tried backing into a parking spot and the rear bumper caught the corner of the front bumper and fender which pulled the top section of the rad support out.
So of coarse this makes the perfect candite for a jdm ITR front, So I started pieacing together my front. My buddy traded me a ef shell i had for the jdm hood, headlights, a ls 5spd cluster, 5spd conversion, rear bumper, and taillights. From there I searched and found a front bumper, grill, rad support, and fenders online.
So now the front end was all together, I decided to have my buddy matt come down to the shop and help me weld the complete rad support on and line the entire front end up. I then decied to find a donor car for some of the parts I needed to finish the build, luckly enough I found a auction on ebay with a 4 door that was hit in the front. But it had a complete running swap and everything else was intact.
From there I pulled all the parts I need and sold the rest. I freshened up the swap and throw it in. I then got the bright idea to get this car finished and ready to drive by spring break which I decied to drive the integra from phila pa to fort lauderdale FL. So I did all the body work myself and spent long hours after work along with weekends to get it done.
I built a home made paint both in my shop since i didn't have the time to wait for a body shop to paint it. I finished all the paint work, installed the swap, wheels and I was ready go.
The funny thing is I wasn't ready everytime I would drive the car a few times and shut it off it wouldn't start up again and others it would. It didn't matter if it was hot or cold it just didn't start. So i ripped out the entire alarm since it had a remote start, and it was still doing it. Well after pulling the starter off and getting it checked I found that the little clip on the starter would vibrate off just enough not to make a connection but close enough to go unnoticed. So with that finally be fixed and me getting the new tires put on I throw my bag in the car picked my brother and my buddy up. Off to flordia we went, I never drove the car more then 20 miles.
Well all went well except for the fact I was in a time crunch and didn't order the auto to 5spd conversion mount. So I made the journey with out, with the motor sitting a little crockit off we went. We were about 15 miles from my dad's house when the car started shaking, I took my time and made it there. I checked over everything and noticed the boot being ripped and the bearings being N/A on the axle. I quick ran over to the nearest advanced auto and grabbed a new axle and throw it in.
The car sat most of the time while we were down there, i drove my dad's car. So our trip came to a end and we started heading home, like an as* I never checked the other axle for damage when I fixed the other one. So we got about 100 miles out from my dad's and the axle took a sh**. It being midnight and no where to fix it, I decided to turn around and head back. I woke first thing in the morning, fixed the axle and off we went. Luckly we made it all the way there and back with only 2 axles being broken. About 6 months later I was driven up the turnpike on my way to the hostipal to vist my nephew, after being stuck in traffic for well over 2 hrs. I got a clear shot and ran about 100mph for well over 50 miles and spun a bearing.
So that's how we got to where we are now, I have since bought a house started my own business and had a son. So the project has been kinda at a stand still for a little while but with winter coming up I am going to have it done to bring out in the spring.
Well here are some pics and I'll try and post some comments along with them. Please let me know your comments and any help tips. Thanks, Jay

well thats it for tonight, ill get some more pics of the paint work and etc. thanks for the comments and please look forward for some more updates.
damn bro i been looking for a white four door integra for the longest time but i ended up getting a gsr four door shell and swapping a gsr motor in it its that rare purple color that only came in 94 to 95, anyway g.l with everything
thanks bro yea i always wanted a 4door every since i started building honda's and this just fell on my lap and i couldnt pass it up even thoe it was an automatic i still jumped on it.... I love that purples that your 4door is but i went with a color i haven't seen on a 4 door
I actually rented the paint booth off of the guys next to my old shop, Which was cool of them cause it saved me some money doing it that way.
Tossed the 4 lug and blue spun mesh wheels for a set of ITR suspension and some gunmetal wheels. gotta love 5 lug
started pulling the dash and getting rid of the stock auto ls dash harness. So I can begin the wire tuck with the new GSR 4 door dash harness from a 98.
Well thanks to summit racing my order of brake line fittings came thru and weeks of searching I found a 98 4 door gsr complete car harness.
Then the next day honda left some gifts on my step. New window moldings along with door moldings. Also a new integra RS 40/40 prop valve since im getting rid of the ABS.
well thats it for now I will be posting some more updates once I get some more work done which will be soon since my upstairs of the house is almost finished and I get busy on my build. Ill get some pics of my swap since its just sitting in the garage.
by any chance was this car for sale a while ago? lol on craigslist or tristatetuners or b20vtec? lol this car looks so familiar
