Default ST Rear Sway Bar Endlinks Install Pics - UPDATED!

I know there's been some questions in the past about how to install the endlinks. Previously, i have provided a picture of how I installed my endlinks. Just recently, i found out that I had installed the shock bracket wrong!

This did NOT cause any problems with handling in the past TWO YEARS i've had this installed incorrectly! However, being that I like to have somewhat perfection, I have fixed it and here are the updated pics of how it SHOULD be installed.

Here's the previous picture:
NO MORE PICTURES!!
Notice how the bracket is positioned, especially the holes for the endlink...

I've also have text on the pictures to help identify the holes on the rear sway bar and their functions:

NO MORE PICTURES!!
This picture is of the Passenger Side endlink looking towards the brakes.

NO MORE PICTURES!!
Facing the rear of the car. This is how the bracket bolts to the shock. There's two holes for the bracket. removing the bolt and moving the bracket is how to "fine tune" the sway bar.

NO MORE PICTURES!!
This is a pic from the TOP of the endlink facing Down. Notice how the endlinks bolt to the bracket/sway bar

NO MORE PICTURES!!
Bottom view of the endlink bolted to the shock bracket. Near the bottom of the pic to the right you'll see a weld and another piece of the bracket. That's the lip that prevents the bracket from shifting under hard cornering. It's suppose to hit the shock and not move anymore

However, i never had a problem with my swaybar moving the shock bracket. Either way, this is the proper mounting of the rear sway bar. I found either way works and that the first pic was easier to adjust the sway bar.

This bar has basically 6 different settings. 3 settings on the bar, with 2 adjustments on the shock bracket. I've labeled the bar settings as "Soft", "Neutral", "Firm" and the shock bracket as "Soft" and "Firm".

To get the car to rotate VERY easily, set the bar to:
Swaybar - "Firm"
Bracket - "Firm"

To get the car to act almost like stock:
Swaybar - "Soft"
Brackey - "Soft"

My car is currently set at "Neutral-Soft".

Hope this helps.

Is it even possible to set these bars on the stiffest settings? Looking at these pics and the bar I used to have on my car, the stiffest setting would cause interference between the end link and bracket or the end link and shock whenever the rear suspension was unloaded.

Try unloading the rear suspension, does the end-link hit anything? Does it look like it would on the stiffest setting? I could never get mine to work properly. I even took it to a shop and they confirmed that the design was bad....

Had the end link break on me due to this. Not good when you're in the middle of a hard corner.

Hey Driven do you have all eurthane inserts, if you do. how do they fill, seeing that I need to replace alot of things I was thinking about getting a kit?

Are the sways you are using now working wonders? From the pics they look like Neuspeed endlinks, am I right or wrong? I was going to look into those but I am not sure.

thanks
Justin

What you have to do is actually preload the suspension a bit to get it to work. I wouldn't recommend setting the bar to "firm-firm" as it's far too "stiff". You'll have the rear end rotate far too quickly and you may not be able to catch it.

Try unloading the rear suspension, does the end-link hit anything?
The suspension is unloaded in the picture. Notice the endlink is rather close to the bracket... this is why you have to preload the suspension to get the firm-firm setting.

If you truly want to run the firm-firm setting, or even firm-soft setting, just switch the bracket.

When I installed mine, I had the car up on ramps...

Are you saying I actually have to add extra weight to the back of the car???
I could actually see that working.....

I've been asking so many people for about two years now why my endlinks kept on hitting everything. This includes talking to and taking my car to a shop that supposedly did many ST bar installs, about three or four different actual ST techs, and about ten or twenty different people on boards like HT, including HT. No one was ever able to tell me how to fix the problem.

Yours is seriously the first solution that I could actually see working

Too bad it won't be a long time until I actually start putting my crx together and see if the preload will truly work.

The original ST links were crap and didnt last very long. They clanked around like a mo fo and had tons of play in them. It took me a few months to find a small mom and pop hardware store who sold the heim joints (both ends). Also, i tried to buy the links separately from ST through one of the local shops here and they said i had to buy a whole new bar. I spent about $40 on the new links. Now they only clank a little bit

what do you mean by 88 specific. because those pictures on top the shocks seem to fork around the control arm and mine goes through the control arm and i was wondering if i can still use the same sway bars which i dont see possible. but i just want to make sure
