EG Civic: Remove key and both stereo and clock reset
I just purchased this car (95 lx) and every time I remove the key both the stereo and in-dash clock reset. Is it just bad wiring behind the stereo? It's really annoying and hopefully someone can help out.

I would first ask is the radio aftermarket or oem. Then I would have you check the fuses for the radio look for the battery back up fuse to be bad, it supplies the radio and clock with 12volts all the time. With out it the radio and clock will reset all the time. If its an aftermarket radio I would look for the same fuse then check all the wirring for the radio to find what caused the fuse to blow
I've already checked all the fuses. All hood fuses and interior fuses are fine. It's an aftermarket deck. I'm thinking the 12v switched power behind the deck is causing this. Does anyone know what wire needs to go where for that?
its not the switched 12v, its the 12v constant. it should be the yellow wire coming out of the back of the stereo, and if the clock is separate, im not sure about that.

Well that's not the case here. The clock (a seperate device) and the radio are both powered by the 12v constant white w/ blue stripe is spliced to each of them. I had this exact problem and did not know about the back up fuse. I ran a new wire from my fuse box, and havnt had a problem since. I do however need to clean it up and replace the fuse and rerun the original wire. That is, if the fuse doesn't keep blowing...
I am having the same issue. I just got a 1993 Accord 10th Anniversary Edition a couple weeks ago and have the same problem with the in-dash clock and the aftermarket stereo resetting everytime the car gets turned off. Bought it like that. I have looked at the 7.5 backup fuse and appears to be NOT blown. Is it possible this could be defective even though the fuse inside itself appear to be intact?? FYI: No dimness at all in the clock or stereo, so I am not sure. More baffled than anything
Any help would be great
